can anyone help me - I'm a qualified aromatherapist and I making up some products like hearts and fabric animals which i'm stuffing with fragrant petals like lavender, chamomille and rose....but i'd like to add some essential oil fillings. Can anyone suggest a 'base'which would absorb oils and provide a nice sqidgy stuffing for fabric hearts etc
Hiya
What about natural sponge, or kapok?
Hi !
I've been making fabric hearts this year :o)
I too have only recently branched out from stuffing with dried lavender mixed with rice, so can't say that this definitely works long term yet, but I've started using natural wool stuffing, for stuffed toys etc. then dropping a few drops of EO into it before sewing up the final edge.
I also read on a pot pourri supply website that Orris Root Powder acts as a fixative for scents, so I'm going to try to get hold of some to see if dusting with a spot of that will help to keep the yummy smells for longer.
Please let me know if you try something and it works really well - I've not made any recently, but will get back to it as Christmas approaches!

hi lisa and Chris
thanks so much for you help - will try kapok...see you can buy it on ebay so give that a whirl....i'm thinkign about leavign a buttonable gap in someof larger hearts to perhaps have a 'removable' bag of lavender etc as the main problem with these aromas is that they do just that - evaporate their aroma....have you ever tried this? will try a few variations of stuffing - also going to try wood chip - in sealble jars first just to see how the scent holds
hoping to sell my hearts at a pre-christmas school fair - i'll let you know x
