acupuncture and blocked tubes?

I had a miscarriage in January (very early on) and therefore had a HSG (where they inject dye into your fallopian tubes to see if they are blocked) and Dr said that it seemed that they were blocked. I know that a HSG isn't conclusive as the tubes can spasm during the procedure, so I have to wait for a Laparoscopy now to find out for sure. If my tubes are blocked would acupuncture be able to help with that? I know that a there are women who have had blocked tubes, had reflexology and then shown clear tubes on a HSG, but what about acupuncture?
Any answers would be gratefully received!

RE: acupuncture and blocked tubes?

Hi Sky
I'm very sorry to hear about your miscarriage.
Just wondering why you were having infertility investigations if you had gotten pregnant?
Did you have a lot of trouble conceiving? This is certainly something acupuncture can help with, and it is well worth taking a course of treatment. (You can find your nearest practitioner from the [DLMURL="http://www.acupuncture.org.uk/content/PractitionerSearch/searchform.asp"]British Acupuncture Council[/DLMURL] website or give them a call 020 8735 0400)

I have not heard of specific cases where tubes have become unblocked through acupuncture treatment. But I have come across several cases where people who have been told catagorically that they cannot get pregnant, have become pregnant with the help of acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture can also help you hold onto the baby, and treat many of the common problems that can arise during pregnancy.

Hope this helps

RE: acupuncture and blocked tubes?

Hi there

Thankyou for replying to me.
We were having investigations as we had been trying a year when I had my early miscarriage.
We already have a 6 year old son who was conceived naturallly very easily.
Do you think it would be impossible for the tubes to become unblocked through acupuncture?
Can you reccommend an acupuncturist who specialises in Infertility, I live in Stockport, Cheshire.
Thanks for any help!

Dear Sky,

I cannot answer for Aragron, but I would not say that it is "impossible" for tubes to get unblocked through acupuncture. But there can be no promisses either.

Hi Sky, thought I'd just butt in here and tell you about a friend of mine...
She had been having IVF for 2 years when they stopped it, she miscarried every one, telling her that she'd never concieve(!!).
I gave her a couple of Reiki treatments and without going into detail, brought to her attention a few things she didn't know were going on (psychologically). Two months later she called me to say she'd had confirmation of a pregnancy, and gave birth to a lovely healthy daughter! She now has a son too!
I know it's nothing to do with acupuncture, but just wanted to say there are alot of ways you could try, even at the same time as acupuncture 🙂

RE: acupuncture and blocked tubes?

Hi Sky
I'm sorry, I do not know any acupuncturists in Cheshire to recommend. Give the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) a ring for a list of practitioners in your area, and just ring around asking about specialisation in infertility. We are a friendly enough bunch! Someone will most likely know if a colleague has a specialisation, but just to let you know, acupuncture doesn't really work through specialisation. Any practitioner found through the BAcC will be able to treat you. It's more that some of us have a particular interest in certain areas.

I'd agree with what Artemis and Daydreamer have written.
It really can be worth trying, but I don't want to instill false expectations. The bottom line is, yes some people with "blocked tubes" have become pregnant with the help of acupuncture treatment, but how you respond to treatment is not dependant on statistics!
As Daydreamer suggests, come at it from 2 or 3 fronts if you like.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

hi sky

I can tell you that is impossible to cure your case by acupuncture .But you can try to take chinese medicine if you can meet a experienced tcm doc.I am not sure about it. what i can tell you is there are many successful cases i treated before ,so dont worry about it .just look for a good tcm doc and make a chinese medicine treatment .

good luck

Hi Dr TCM,

I can tell you that is impossible to cure your case by acupuncture

Interesting statement. I never promiss a "cure"for anything (and anyway it is illegal in Britain to say that any therapy can "cure" anything) but I also never say "impossible".
What difference do you make between acupuncture and Chinese Medicine?

RE: acupuncture and blocked tubes?

hi artemis

acupuncture and chinese medicine has different application area.

for blocked tubes , normally I use acupuncture & chinese medicine together or chinese medicine only .

My treatment principle is to choose the most effective way for different disease ,not limited in such a simple theory , for example ,sometimes i also use tuina .

regards

This is very much individually but I think you can try and see. My advice will be in any way to consult your dr, they have much more experience and always take the second opinion from other dr (I do this way always)
