Hello,

I'm a new member to the board and wondered if anyone has advice on where to train (in UK, South-East)?
I'm a qualified reflexologist and have just started my first year in Nutrition (will be 3 years in total); I wanted to start investigating Acupressure training to make a final decision on whether it's do-able (both financially and whether I'd have the time).

I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Debbie

Hi TIMN

Unfortunately acupressure courses are few and far between. Try googling Acupuncture Society in London as they do an acupressure course.

Other options are studying Tui Na (Chinese Massage), Shiatsu (Japanese Bodywork), or even Qi Gong (Chinese Healing & Exercises) as that may contain acupressure techniques. There is probably other course & stuff out there that I haven't heard of.

As for "do-able" depends at what level you wish to practice. If you want to be full on then Shiatsu maybe a go route, but that's other 3 years and £1000's to fork out. Tui Na is heavily acupressure based (but depending on the school) as well but not so many training providers as Shiatsu.

I assume you are talking about therapeutic acupressure (acupuncture without neddles) not on-site acupressure massage, which is just a simple routine.

Best Wishes

RP

Hello RP, thank you for the reply.
Yes I did mean therapeutic acupressure and not massage. I will look into the London-based provider you mentioned and see how I get on there.
"Do-able" was really whether it would be something I could, perhaps, start alongside my 2nd or 3rd year in Nutrition but obviously that would depend on the course.

Thanks again for the response; you've given me a few options I hadn't thought of and I appreciate that.

All tbe best

I would definitely consider tui na - it's a wonderful, versatile therapy, and well worth the training required!
