Is there a Regulatory body specific to Acupressure whichrecomends a minimum level of training & promotes/markets the therapy? or does one of the better Complimentary/Holistic bodies recognise it.
Also how can I recognise a proper qualified Acupressure Therapist?
professional associations for acupressure
I'm also interested to learn of regulatory bodies and of approved training courses - a search of the internet does not reveal much, unless of course one extends interest to acupuncture and shiatsu
As far as I know there is no acupressure body in the UK. Certainly not one connected to the Federal Voluntary Self-Regulation (apart from maybe shiatsu).
There isn't any standards in acupressure.
If nearest training to high standards with would be shiatsu and tui-na (Chinese medical massage). There are probably others (like Qigong or JinShinDo), but not so well known.
Typical on-site/seated massage that use acupressure technique are not very in-depth in terms of acupressure knowledge.

Acupressure training
Hello everyone. With regard to your discussion on training, I am about to undertake a seated acupressure massage course. The training is by a tutor who has practiced Shiatsu and Acupuncture and is via the European Shiatsu School. Because these areas are linked,I believe that this training will be valuable, also alongside the book that this tutor has published
I always search for training that I believe has the most credence and validity. I have had acupressure massage and found it to be beneficial. All the therapies I have learnt are ones that I choose to receive myself. One that uses tsubos (or meridians) is Japanese face massage which I find is such a wonderful treatment. I also practice Reflexology, which always amazes me with its accuracy.( Being a trained nurse in intensive care means that I can be very enquiring and sceptical until proved otherwise. ) 🙂
