what are the five roots of traditional chinese medicine? is this fire, water, earth and so on?
if the client had an infection, cancer or was pregnant would you not carrying out the treatment because the cancer could spread and so could the infection and as for pregnancy would that not risk the health of the baby in the early stages?

Hi Jenna,
Well done on doing home learning. Sorry I can't be of help with answers, perhaps some members here in the know will help answer. You said your tutors number starts 01 which to me is Dublin, maybe you could give a quick ring and see if tutor has email address that you can use?
Good luck with the study.

Hi,
So far as infection, cancer or pregnancy goes... Acupuncture can be used for all them IF you know what you're doing. A properly trained acupuncturist will be able to treat any of these groups, and indeed for cancer and pregnancy it be a great benefit. But you need to know what you're doing - for instance there are certain points which should not be used during pregnancy.
Im also home studying 🙂
Im also doing a home study course, and the questions can be a little confusing,
but my understanding is that the common feature about eastern methods of
fingertip medicine is the belief that there is a form of energy that permeates
through the body and that is the essence of treatment to stimulate or sedate
depending on whether the energy is deficient or excessive.
The five roots of have great significance in Chinese medical philosophy as it
represents the four points of the compass including the central region, showing
the enlightened idea that different diets and environmental condition's may
predispose different types of medical problems. And the idea that being hot and
cold may impact on disease.
Not sure about the 3rd question 🙂 if you need any help i will contact you
when i have got to that point , hope this helps:)
Hi Amy,
Maybe a little late as this discussion was 3 years ago... but I'm sure the input will be appreciated by those looking for similar answers. 😉
