Hi All,

This is just a quick query, my sister had a stroke 3 and a half years ago when she was 40. Thankfully she has made a great recovery she still limps and has a weakness in the right hand side of her body but she was determined to pull through and was back driving (although a modified car) within a year.

My question is this, is it ok for me to carry out acupressure treatment on her? I have looked in many books that I have at home and not one of them mentions this. I am assuming it is ok as she has mentioned it to her doctor.

As you probably tell I am not qualified in acupressure but do enjoy practising on friends and family.

yes of course but she would probably have a much better recovery if she saw a qualified traditional acupuncturist who could treat the underlying pattern that caused the stroke. There is lots of evidence in china that acupuncture helps with stroke recovery.

Yes, by all means try accupressure and massage. Get hold of some books on Shiatsu, or do a Shiatsu training course.

My sister had a stroke at a very early age, and finds shiatsu type massage helpful.

btw: I've given seminars to former stroke patients and one thing that i believe is particularly helpful is ionized water.
