Are there any Wiccan's on here from Cumbria and if so how do you find the region in accepting WIcca and the availability of groups/covens/moots? I live in West Cumbria and have come to accept I will not be able to find a coven in my area.
RE: Regional Wicca
Hi Little Em 🙂
Have you checked out Children of Artemis' website? They have a coven-joining service where they can help you to find a local coven. There is also a list of moots in different parts of UK. If you join (I've been a member since 2003) you can get help with setting up your own moot/gathering if you're interested.

There are no groups, no covens (open ones anyway), and definately no moots..

Hello Em
I'm also in Cumbria; Keswick. I know I can't advertise Tarot Readings in our local paper, the Keswick Reminder, but other than that, I've had no issues. I was yesterday interviewed by the Times & Star, which I thought was about my Hypnotherapy (I've just expanded to start working in Cockermouth) but turned out the reporter was far more interested in the Witchcraft! I hope it gets a positive reaction, but we'll see.
I have a 'formative' coven, which is composed of those who have been on my courses and where we find we work together well. The Witchcraft I'm involved in is based on my own background (initiated 25 years ago into a Gardnerian coven) and experience, so is pretty aeclectic and open.
Blessed Be

Hello,
Im in Workington, just learning about wicca at the moment though...(any advice gratefully received!)
P.s looking forward to reading your article Templumkat. 🙂
Forget the CoA coven finding service! You have to be a full member to access it, I know several people who have paid their money to access this service then just been told "sorry none in your area". In fact, from personal experience in other areas I'd forget the CoA altogether but that's another story (Children of a virgin goddess makes no sense either!).
The best way to find covens is to get to know pagans in your area to start with. Pagan Dawn and Pentacle magazines both have moot listings in them and you can get hold of them from any half decent pagan or occult shop or google them and take a subscription online.
Hiya Little Em,im from Cumbria (Workington),its hard to find out any thing yeah,i only know one person personally who is Wiccan.

Look at the pagan federation. They list the coordinators for each area and also have a list of moots going on in various areas.
