Is it okay for someone who is new to Wicca and uninitiated to start a Book of Shadows? Are there rules for BOS'?

RE: Book of Shadows

U dont have to be in a coven or initiated to have a book of shadows. It basically a collection of thought, spells, rituals and any information you may come across in your wiccan studies. There arent really any rules either other than of course that it coincides with the wiccan rede ('do as thou will if it harm none'). Some people would argue that it should always be a black hardback book or bought from a specialist store but its up to the individual. I use a ringbinder so I can always change the order of things and keep adding to it.

Its a Magickal diary more than anything, speaking of which, must update mine!! Its nice to dedicate it when you hold a ritual next.
I have several smallhardbacks one for crystals, oils, Tarot, Spells, candles and misc.
