Bonfires have always been a tradition for witches that work their magic by the light of the Moon.....deriving warmth and light on a cold winters night, and also keeps with ancient customs of Moon magic......There's nothing better than listening to stories of our folklore, and to chant with the flames changing the expressions and faces of all those in attendance.....to watch the flames reflection dance within the branches of the trees that is special

When we hold Sabbats outside, we always have a ritual fire. Usually it's confined within a metal dustbin lid, ( for safety )and it's easier to transport.
Just wondered how many on hp also have a ritual fire.

Samhain Fire Chuck

Hi Oak

We had a 'mundane' Samhain party for friends and their families last week, ahead of our private Samhain ritual. However, we still lit up a small fire in a circular barbeque stand, which kept people warm outside the cottage.

What we then did was a "Fire Chuck"; we asked everybody - who wanted to participate - to list on a piece of paper all the things they wanted to get rid off in the next year. We then went outside and threw them altogether on the fire with a few words and a quiet moment for contemplation.

Even for non-pagans, witches, or magicians, it was a great way to get people to do magick, and everybody commented that it was a 'tradition' they would think of doing next "halloween". LOL.

The fire still burns; sometimes it has to burn under the earth!
