I was wondering is hand blended incense has a long shelf life? does it go off? Also I am unsure as to how to use it. I have jars I havent opened. They are as new a friend who's across the globe bought them and thought I knew how to use them:eek: I have no idea what to do with them. I also have anointing oils. All Of which are hex breaking, exorcism, luck. protection, divination, scrying blends.
says 'well of hecate' I cant find the manufacturer anywhere. can anyone help please? I dont know how to use them. can I anoint candles? crystals.
I tend to just use a hand rolled incense stick and a candle.
Thank you
Hi crescentwings.....
After reading your request for healing on another thread, maybe you have been given your answer to this question already.....
Maybe you should use and treasure this present......
I will treasure it but, I dont want to use something that I use wrongly. I dont want to turn bad luck into more bad luck.
I dont understand cryptic messages.sorry you must have me confussed with someone else because no one has answered how to use the incense. I am not even sure if it is incense all it says is 'hand blended by occultists for occultists.'thenhas the name 'scrying' . I could end up burning something that is in a pot sealed and find its not for that purpose. I dont want to end up intoxicating myself. I would rather be safe than sorry.
I understand crystals and tarot. I dont understand herbs or oils. other than using aromatherapy sprays.
Ok thanks, I think I have figured out the oils. I need to carry on looking into the herbs. They do smell lovely and some have tiny flowers in them or what looks like bark.
Here's a link that might explain a little more......

Thanks Oakapple, I have just realised I put the post under Wicca and not Aromatherapy. I just wasnt sure where the post should be.

Hello crescentwings
As your thread title suggests and first post was asking for advice about spell incense, it would seem that Wicca is the most appropriate forum for this topic.
Although threads CAN be moved, I think perhaps this one should be left here.
Regarding use of the incense, if it's loose and in a jar ... as opposed to a stick ... then I believe the usual method is to burn a small amount on a pre-lit charcoal disc. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to confirm that?

Yep.......you want to burn it, not eat it,.....so it hasn't got a sell by date.
It's the fragrances that are so special. The scents have the ability to change emotional states which are needed for different intentions...
Just a few drops on the lighted charcoal....or burning dried herbs will do.

If it's solid incense, then burning on a charcoal disc is the way to go. If it's liquid (oil), then a few drops in water in a diffuser heated by a tealight should do it. Just don't let all the water evaporate!

The herbs are in jars and not in liquid form. they contain lots of herbs, one of which for hex breaking has a lot of red stalks in it. some leaves pieces of bark, berries. Some smell earthy, others spicey and the divination one is very light. I imagine they smell different when burnt?
I will look into purchasing some charcoal discs. I'll have to try it outside as we have smoke alarms.
The other oils are in dropper bottles. One of which smells strongly of lemon.
*I couldnt think of another term for them other than spell items*
Thanks
I grow and dry my own herbs for burning and to prepare them for burning i use a mortar and pestle. Crush the herbs as small as you require, then place them into a censer or heat proof dish. I generally sprinkle a little salt into the censer first.......
Using matches or a llighter, ignite the dried herbs and gentle blow on them until thet glow red........It's now ready for smudging.
If you use a charcoal disk, ignite the disk and wait until it is white hot....then sprinkle the herbs on top of the disk.....when the herbs are burning.....useing the dropper....place one or two drops onto the burning herbs..
remember to extinguish the herbs after use......:)
HTH
Thanks, I tried the herbs today on a charcoal block. Had problems lighting the block. I placed it on some soil to retain the heat and put into a terracotta pot. It held the heat fine and I was able to use it to move the smoke around the house, especially the bedroom as I have found sleeping not so good. I pinch at a time wearing gloves. It was certainly a potent mix.
I would like to try a floral scented incense something feminine and light but, I guess it depends what you want the incense for. I wouldnt expect a pretty smelling incense to drive away bad luck.
EDIT
I have some candles but I try not to use them as I am not familiar enough with colour correspondances matching the intention. I burnt a black weeping rose candle,a royal blue and a white candle yesterday.
I dont know why I felt drawn to those candles and hope that it was for the right reason.
I worry that I am trying to hard to get it right and the outcome will be muddled.
Perhaps too much being tried.
I also decided to throw in different pinches of incense into the charcoal block, hex breaking spell breaking exorcism today.
Probably not wise but I thought, ah heck Ill try it all.
Don't work on the negative energies....Invoke good luck.
Use white Heather and clover for good luck....:)
Be positive with your intentions!!
Dispel bad luck and all other negative energies by clapping or chanting, maybe you could ring a bell or shout them out .Just make sure there is no hidden corner of your working area that feels bad to you...then use your censer or smudge stick before you raise your positive energies...I find Drumming works for me....;)
I have been burning some of my herbs at the base of a candle, when candle burns down it catches the herbs and they burn for a short while...I only put a small amount & use the herbs for a specific intention....never knew this was right thing to do with herbs...it was just what i felt was right.....but maybe i can now strat using a pestle & mortar as well....
very interesting.....
read other day in The pentacle mag about Shell grottos....I have made several shell grottos in my time but didnt realise wat they were just used shells to decorate a space on walls in garden etc....now i know this is part fo pagan tradition it falls into place now where my idea came from.......past life etc...
Thank you. I dont have any luck incense only anointing oil.
The 3 oils are luck, consecration and vision. I tried the vision oil on the wrists and 3rd eye also on a crystal. During sleep I was given the name Robert.
I have only removal incense. The 5 incenses/herb mixes are hex breaking, spell breaking, exorcism divination and finally scrying.
