I have been a Pagan for many years and always leaned towards Wicca. The spiritual aspects of Wicca and Witchcraft are wonderful but the ritual magick leaves me cold (and I make the distinction between magick and ritual magick as I think we all work a little magick in our lives even if we dont know it!).
I find myself very recently drawn to Druidry and wondered if there were any out there who could advise me on a good starting point (recommended books, groups, etc although I am already a member of COA).
Can anyone give any advice?

RE: Druidry
Hi Lyssa
Like you I have felt drawn towards druidry and can recommend a fabulous book (well I thought so) by Emma Restall Orr called "Spirits of the Sacred Grove" - The World of a Druid Priestess. It's a bit of a flaky title I know but don't let that put you off. Emma takes you throught he year from Samhain to Samhain again and gives insight as she goes to druid beliefs and rituals and the whole ethos of the movement - fabulous and inspiring. I found myslef sloshing throught the rain with no umbrella, face to the sky after reading the wintery bits!
Emma used to be the joint chief of the British Druid order and a tutor of the Order of Bards Ovates and Druids - although I believe she has stepped down now from one or both of these. The book also gives a website - - which I remember visiting and finding it to be v useful.
Hope I have helped a little.

---(Mouse) Hi everyone, I'm currently changing contact details for Emma Restall Orr (Bobcat), and came across this message board (and this message). So - I've joined to give you updated details for Bobcat. And yes, Lyssa, I agree with Rachel, if you haven't already got Spirits Of The Sacred Grove - now published under the title 'Druid Priestess', then I really do suggest it. It is my bible! LOL! and is very worn and tattered now, with pages falling out, because I go back to it so often. I know Bobcat very well, but didn't, until I read this book. When I did, I knew that Druidry is where my soul, my spirit, and my heart lay. It was like coming home.
And yes, Bobcat has now moved on from the BDO, and now heads The Druid Network. Please visit: and take a look at the wonderful work she does. She also has a new book out this month, which you can read about under the resources section of TDN site.
I hope this information is helpful to people.
