This is old news but I must admit I was shocked by more child abuse. DALLAS (AP) - More than three dozen former students of Hare Krishna boarding schools filed a $400 million lawsuit against leaders of the religious community Monday, alleging years of sexual, physical and emotional torture.
The 44 plaintiffs in the suit allege child abuse over two decades at boarding schools in the United States and India.
I wasn't sure whether this was the right forum but as it relates to India so thought it may as well go here as the sai baba thread is getting quite big.
Here is an article published by Associated Newspapers.

RE: Hare Krishna Sued
Hi Kim,
I don't consider myself knowledgeable enough on the HKs to get into that deeply. Just an offshoot comment on something else.
I looked at your link thinking I knew what I would find, and I did 😀 at
The picture becomes clearer if you just go to the homepage .
I've come up across these organisations or individuals (of this ilk) for 25 years. Before the net they worked through books. Almost always U.S. Christian evangelists or fundies as I call them. They attack everything Indian, everything New Age including all New Age healing modalities, then attack lists of other groups and finally get round to other world religions ... and then branches other than theirs of Christianity. I looked into one such guy once, and in the end he agreed with no spiritual truth at all apart from his own church - which he founded and ran!
So they just produce sites or books listing every spiritual leader or organisation they know of and collect data against them, then give it a big biassed twist. (Nothing positive said.) Since they are not very insightful people, they often get their facts completely wrong, as they don't understand the religions they are dealing with and they rarely fact-check. Yeeees - what a consciousness and what a way to devote your life! [&:]
So, yes, they will dig up truths on others. But they give it back with an extremely biassed slant and are not to be considered impartial or trustworthy.
Though they profess to be Christian, the negative vibes are just amazing at times. One site had a forum, and had attacked quite viciously an organisation I felt deserved little or none of it, so I entered the forum to try to reason with the 30-odd subscribers. These turned out to be people who were unbelievably negative, and seemed to have a problem with God Himself ... they believed in God, but seemed to hate him though they were Christian. I got bombarded with 4-letter words and personal attacks I can't quote here, and left within 8 days.
So that's a long diversion by me off-subject except insofar as to be aware that these sites are not wholesome. You'll find that they attack every single subject HP deals with from Reiki to the Apocrapha. Just thought I'd mention it as I've been long aware of the type.

Dear Venetian
Well it does take common sense when looking at any websites on the internet as I am sure you will agree many have hidden agenda's.
This site and many others feature the published articles from national press and although the national media can be debatable, IME of working in the media they are more reliable due to them being sued if they get their facts wrong. So the published press articles is what I look for where serious allegations are at stake.
"So, yes, they will dig up truths on others. But they give it back with an extremely biassed slant and are not to be considered impartial or trustworthy."
Sadly I met a so-called spiritual person like you describe recently, sadly there are some very strange people about who never cease to amaze me with their lack of integrity and genuine love. So let us forgive them for being human 'for they know not what they do'.
But again thank you for your advice.

Yes, out of interest I just did a search on that site, and since you are a Reiki practitioner, you'll see that they try keep their gaze on you lot. 😉 Though they are grasping a bit.
It is of course true (take the Sai Baba thread) that there's a need for some 'alternative religions' etc to be monitored, as they may have a negative impat on some people. But I once came across such a site which was trying to ban ... meditation - along with a huge list of other things A to Z.
In order to offer a BALANCED view (IMO), the Home Office set up INFORM in this nation - website is [DLMURL] http://www.inform.ac/infmain.html [/DLMURL] The lady who heads this up, and it has existed for almost 20 years at the London School of Economics, has chuckled more than once with me - for the evangelists turned against INFORM too.
INFORM, Information Network Focus On Religious Movements do leaflets on the main 'new religions, and there is one on ISKCON (the Hare Krishnas), which I would expect to be academically accurate. Or they can be contacted for deeper information on any known group.

God point, Kim, but I see they are very picky and choosie. Basically only the negative. I did see an article about Reiki in the USA being unlicensed ... but the site will be including that due to their own panic! 🙂

Dear Venetian
Well I don't usually waste my time looking at such websites, I was looking for some evidence on Sai Baba that brought me to the allegations on Hare Krishna and there are many many sources. Which is why this thread was dedicated to those facts.
As far as Reiki is concerned not the slightest bit interested what anyone else as to say about it. The healing method has been sweeping the planet these last 30 years and its fruits internationally bear witness to its power. Its also being used in hospitals and by doctors and nurses in the US. There are a lot of testimonials by the US medical profession for anyone who wishes to view on William Rand's website.
Unlicensed well yes all hands on healing is unlicensed in the US and the rules differ in different states I hear.
One used to be able to get away with it by becoming an ordained minister but they are tightening up on that as well. Our students in the US inform us that they must have massage or equivalent qualification to practise.
Last but not least I am a Reiki Master amongst other things as you well know. But Reiki is just one of many different healing methods that I have been blessed to teach, use, help and serve others.
