Hello everyone!
I'm feeling very excited as my lovely boyfriend has just become my 'fiance'!!!
Neither of us are religious in the christian sense, but I would dearly love a very organic, natural wedding either outdoors or somewhere that is used to this kind of wedding, such as a castle or a ruin/stately home etc
I also need some help in finding out about special pagan and wiccan rituals that are specific to weddings. Can anyone help?
I really need help on the following things too:
1. Finding a registrar or licensed person who is liberal enough to be happy to incorporate some pagan/wiccan rituals into a civil wedding ceremony (as i do believe it's not legal just to have a handfasting)?
2. Finding venues that are equally as liberal and accommodating for a wedding and a reception
3. Finding a good dress maker in the London/Hertfordshire/Essex areas of England that would pamper to my need for an organic or very natural approach to the design of dresses (I'd love my bridemaids to shimmer like dragonfly wings - that kinda thing)!!!
I'm looking at London/Hertfordshire/Essex areas of England or possibly the Midlands as this is where i'm from.
Can anyone out there help?? It's not the sort of research that my mum can really help me with!
love and light

Just a thought,
our friends had a registery office wedding on the friday with only a couple of friends as witness's and then a beautiful ( non-legal ) ceremony in a parents garden on the saturday with loads of guests, it was wonderful, wish I had done it myself.
Have a great time- I love a wedding - wonderful

Only just seen this, alxpix. Congraulations on your engagement.
In England, for a wedding to be legal it must be conducted inside a building with four walls and a roof. Marrying in the woods, on a beach or anywhere outside is illegal. You could perhaps have a registry office wedding and then a 'woods wedding' afterwards, where you could take part in a handfasting ceremony, during which you 'jump the broomstick.' Your wedding will then be legal.
Good luck!
Love,
Patsy.

i think its aweful that we have to go through legalities in order to get married! in reading the bible i havent yet come across where you have to have a preacher etc. to get married! people ought to just be able to pronounce their love and commitment to one another and call it good! the bible did say, that a man should leave his mother and father, find a woman, and be with her, and together become one flesh! good luck to you Alx! i hope you will find the info you seek. ill pray that you do!

Firstly - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
I know that the British School of Spiritual Knowledge can perform ceremonies and are prepared to travel (albeit for a fee) - maybe have a look at their website?
[link= http://www.bssk.co.uk ]www.bssk.co.uk[/link]then choose Alternative Services from the side menu.
That said I liked the earlier suggestion of doing the legal bit at the reg office then later doing your own stuff your way.
I think the main thing is that it ends up being a day personal to both of you.
Best Wishes
