Hi everyone,
There is a wonderful thread in Reiki about healing, and the reaction that some members on these pages have received from fellow Church members. One person has been told that Reiki is evil and against the wishes of God [sm=nono.gif][sm=nono.gif][sm=nono.gif][sm=cool-smiley-013.gif]!
Angel raised the point that Jesus was a healer and so was he evil?
Here are a few things that I have come to realise about Jesus - I wonder what your views are [sm=scratchchin.gif]
1. Jesus was a hands on healer and so was a spiritual healer or reiki healer - both use the universal energy
2. Jesus was not religious - religion was created afterwards by man
3. Jesus was a human being, he came from the womb and although I think he may have been the only incarnated Master from the
World of Spirit, he was still aman with the whole spectrum of human emotions to work out - just like you and me
4. Because he loved everyone unconditionally, he went among thelepers to heal them, and even blessed his acusers, would he say
that it was wrong to be gay or that women were in any way inferior to men? Religion does!
Anyway as all the great barbers used to say, 'something for the weekend?'
Best wishes

Thanks Laura, for that link! Golly I hope people here don't start using them all!! 😀
And I just learnt that all this time I thought that LOL meant Leans over Laughing and it's actually Laughs Out Loud (or Lots of Laughter or Lots of Love - that's confusing!)
Love and peace,

Hi folks
I think Sunanda hit the nail on the head when she said that the Bible is not strictly the word of God. It has been copied and translated soooo many times over such a long period of time that it cannot be the same as the original. Put into the mix that several men wrote it based on stories and/or experiences, plus the church modifying it to suit themselves, and you have IMO a rather vague version of God's word.
Not read the Bible myself, but doesn't it say somewhere that everyone is loved and forgived for their sins?

Dear Callisa,
The problem with reading the Bible literally as you do, is that you really can come unstuck! Apart from anything else, there are mistakes in the Bible and there are contradictions throughout - especially between the OT and the New. Jesus showed that parts of the OT were simply human opinions, not based on divine revelation when he overturned, in his Sermon on the Mount, so many of the old Mosaic "laws".
Here below is an excerpt from a tongue-in-cheek letter that was published on the Internet regarding reading the Bible literally:
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord Lev. 1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Ex 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual cleanliness Lev 15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell her? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.
4. Lev 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can¹t I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Ex 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination Lev 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don¹t agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them?- Lev 24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? Lev. 20:14
Oh boy! [sm=rollaugh.gif]
Look at how a dogmatic, literal and materialistic interpretation of the Q'uran is turning decent, law-abiding, peaceful people into committing heinous crimes in God's name. A similar reading of parts of the Bible could do the same (and has in the past!) with people who call themselves Christians - a religion based completely on Love.
Reading something like that above makes me so grateful that I take the INSPIRED Word of the Bible – the spiritual truths that flow right throughout it and which bring us peace, harmony, comfort, inspiration, uplift-ment, understanding and healing. I take the 10 Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount as my guide for life. Let me share a little that I’ve written before here on the 10 Commandments:
The 10 Commandments start (like the Lord’s Prayer) with acknowledging God’s all-ness and one-ness and then move to the human part. That human part of the 10 Commandments given to Moses has formed the basis for just about every law we have in the democratic West and similar moral codes are to be found in all religions. Without religious moral codes, we would all feel free to kill whoever and whenever we liked, there would be no structure in society and certainly no protection to women; we would be free to steal, to lie and slander and to commit perh

no! its not ok! GOD said it was an abomination!
personally i don't think any of God's creatures and children are an 'abomination' - and we are all God's children!!
obviously you think it is an abomination ("a thing that causes disgust or hatred")
but i think it is very sad that people who call themselves religious, with all that entails, can be filled with hatred towards other human beings...
i don't want to offend anyone - but surely the Bible (written long after Jesus died, incidently) is only a guideline and a tool - if you look deeply you will find Jesus and 'truth' in your heart and won't need to follow blindly
blessings to all

WOW!!!! ive really missed out the past day or so! to ENERGYLZ.... forgive me, the correct scripture is 1cor. 6:9 not 2:9! so sorry! to the rest of you.. you have to rightly divide the word of GOD! like in revelations when GOD talks about a beast coming out of the sea with so many heads and horns, its not actually a beast from the sea. its talking about nations and kings. so its kinda hard sometimes, reading it but there are definately some scripture youll read that you know you should take literally!
RE: I'll put this here as I have no wish to upset anyone religious!
There is nothing in revelations that is an all end fact but, mere speculation. I can take any fictional story and interpret its context into whatever I so please to relate with todays society or even the future. If it doesn't happen within the near future then the odds of it happening maybe unreasonably high however.. still exists. The probability of rolling 9 snake eyes in 9 consecutive rolls may seem just as imposible up to a trillion but, it still exists that both can happen.
Is Babylon really Iraq even though that's what it origionaly was before? Alot of people would beg to differ saying that America is the true Babylon. With all it's riches and crime, how could Iraq even compare?
