I didn't know where on earth to put this little post, but here will do? I wouldn't limit it to Judaism as it's more a bit of chat about today!
I had to blink a couple of times, but at 7.50 AM this morning I saw the Ark of the Covenant! No, obviously not the real one. But a full-size, painted version on the back of a lorry. It was pulling into a gas station, and I wish I'd had opportunity to ask where it was going and the purpose. Part of a film set?
It was extraordinary to see obviously a version made up exactly to the dimensions and appearnace outlined in the Old Testament. It's very considerably larger than I thought, far more than just a kind of large coffin size. It looked very impressive and, after Indiana Jones films and all, a bit forboding! I wonder what it was and going where?
Not something I expected to get up and see this morning!

Are you sure it wasn't the real one, V?
a Birmingham author has claimed the legendary gold ornate chest, built under the instruction of Moses, is hidden in the Midlands.
Maybe it's not as well hidden as he thought. 🙂

Well, that author is Coventry-based and the article is from the Coventry newspaper. And I saw this in Coventry this morning .....
So evidently they've found it - and I saw the real McCoy! 😮 Only, you'd think they'd take more care. It was strapped down in open view, and tipping from side to side as the lorry - more of a large flat-top van - moved. I suppose the trick was that by putting it on view (as 'they' take it to a secret location) people like me assumed it was some form of elaborate prop...
In the article BTW, I never heard of the "nine stones of power" that control it. Must look those up sometime. I assume that's a Biblical reference.

Found the stones V – there are only 4!
Now a Birmingham author has claimed the legendary gold ornate chest, built under the instruction of Moses, is hidden in the Midlands.
Oh surprise, surprise, he’s written a book! This wouldn’t have anything to do with publicity and sales would it? :o)
This seems slightly more feasible to me than the midlands, especially as the DNA of the Etheopian Jews are from the Levite (priestly) tribe:
And more – including the history and diagrams:

Thanks for the links, Judy.
I know the Ethiopian story or rather theory. In fact some years back there was a documentary on it. Only one man gets in to see the supposed Ark. I can't say for sure, can I, but it all seems too simple to me. And in my belief-system, the Ark was something truly transcendent. I can't see the Divine having it stuck away in a smallish block-building in Ethiopia. No, it's here in the Midlands somewhere ... I sense it. 🙂
From the Biblical dimensions then, it was only two and half cubits long and a cubit = 18". So not so large at all: what I saw this morning was much larger, then, for dramatic effect.

Now I realise how they went and lost it - it's so small! 😀
