The article explains it as sunlight except that the top part is an oblong....weird!

omg, some people are hilarious.
That's clearly just sunlight coming through the clouds and diffusing in the humidity of the air.
But, I guess people will always believe what they want to believe. 😀

Yes but it's not just a shaft of sunlight is it? What about the peculiar oblong part at the top? Very odd.

Almost everything about human society can be explained by this one fact.

There is no peculiar oblong, it's the shape of the clouds and how the sunlight is coming through them. Nothing peculiar about that.

Even in the poor quality video you can see the clouds slowly moving and the light changing.

At the top of the shaft of light there is definitely a square shape i.e. with angled corners. Nothing wrong with my eyesight
(I had an eye test yesterday!) If it was just a shaft of light there would be nothing unusual i.e. people know what that looks like.

I am not saying it's Jesus, I am saying it's not characteristically natural looking.

There are new (i.e. not recorded before) cloud forms now, probably as a result of global warming causing air to move in unusual ways.

You know what - I'm thrilled to read this, as it must have really comforted those dear people after what they've been through.

This lot though is really bizarre - especially the foodie ones! 😮 You need vivid imaginations for some of them. There are also loads on YouTube, but they look like complete hoaxes to me, so haven't pasted any.

Huh?

Did you not understand my previous posts about the unusual shape i.e. OBLONG???? Did you watch the video footage?

I looked through some of these - I didn't have the patience for all of them. I have read that humans are hard-wired to see faces in all kinds of things, but it says something interesting about particular cultures that so many are assumed to be Jesus. After all, the first one could be seen as Thor, or Jupiter or almost any of the male gods who have beards. (Two eyes, so probably not Odin.) In other cultures it (all of them, actually) could be seen as the spirit of whatever the object is.

And what do they think motivated Jesus to appear in a Kit-Kat?

No. 2 - the winged figure in the sky. What a strange notion Sherrie Abbott must have of an afterworld where her father, after 20 years, decides to send a 'festive message' via clouds!

Oh, okay. Sorry. I must be more tired than I thought. Yes, I saw an oblong. It's a hole in the clouds appearing oblong because of the angle. I do think you'd have to be pretty desperate to see it as Jesus, although, of course, they probably were pretty desperate after the landslide.

Clouds are curvy, i.e. not given to producing oblong shafts of sunlight...sorry, it doesn't add up. Something weird here. (I am not saying it's Jesus though!)

And shafts of light are angular. Therefore, at certain angles will look like oblongs.

Shafts of light tend to be a shaft! Also, certainly not change their shape at the top of the shaft in this peculiar angular/unflowing manner!

Not all clouds are "curvy", they can lie flat and even curved edges of multiple clouds can add up to fairly straight edges at times, especially at a distance.

I looked at the picture several times and there is no definite hard edged oblong shape, it's just the angle of the light in the clouds.

Would flat clouds produce such a shape? Hmmm Maybe multiple clouds can have 'fairly straight edges' but they would still be curvy/fluffy above and below. This video clearly shows a flat top (as well as flat sides). Since the video is shown as it is happening, I am not sure it is possible to doctor the image, i.e. interfere/change it....that would be interesting to know. Thereagain, would there be such a gathering just for a shaft of sunlight?

Admittedly the strange, oblong shape is not 'hard edged' but you cannot overlook the fact that a shaft of sunlight does not have an oblong shape at the top of it! Very unnatural!

I agree — there's really no way anyone can prove whether the image was or wasn't something miraculous, but it certainly looks like some kind of angelic being and it definitely brought a sense of comfort and hope to people who desperately needed it.

Er, quite. I'm reminded of another example I remember seeing a print of years ago: I've no idea whether the story that goes with it is true or apocryphal, but there certainly is an image within that picture that could be interpreted as the face of Jesus... (It's easier to pick out if you scroll down to the photo of the church.)

Methinks you need a copy of the cloudspotters guide 😉

Typically air pressure and winds are considered (in general terms) to change about every 300ft, hence why looking at the direction clouds travel isn't a good indication of wind direction at ground level. Also, with different weather conditions, sudden changes in high and low pressure can cause clouds to be flat on the top or on the bottom, as well as at the sides. If you think clouds are just "fluffy" all the time then I'm afraid you are mistaken. Even your standard cumulus clouds can have flat sides and bottoms to them; it's to do with air pressures (changes in) and wind directions, as well as clashing weather fronts etc. And as for the light appearing oblong at the top of the shaft of light... well the shaft is caused by the break in between the clouds, and the oblong is the diffusion of light at the edges of the clouds where they are thinner.

As for why there was such a gathering, that's the nature of society, especially after such a situation has occurred to them, and they are, I believe, without meaning any offence, quite a religious lot there, so seeing something to allow them to believe there is hope is more likely to occur there than in other societies.

Not peculiar then that this oblong shape should be on top/combined with a normal shaft of sunlight? Seen it before have you? Hmmm

Whilst I take your point about them being religious, I don't believe that there would be a crowd gathering for just a shaft of sunlight....come on - I am sure that it isn't a rare sight.

I've seen similar, yes, where strong sunlight is breaking through stormy clouds.

You assume that the crowd has "gathered" and that they weren't already a group of people in that area. We don't know that. Could just as easily be e.g. a coachload of people who have stopped for a break and to stretch their legs, seeing the sunlight shining down through the clouds and marvelling at it, so deciding to film it.
