Bishop's belief music can speak about spirituality

"The Bishop of Croydon wants to worship to rock songs by the Beatles and U2 after calling the Bible “banal”."

well, duh!!!!

(hmmmm, what about The Cross or Love thy will be done both prince songs 😉 (to name but 2!) but sadly he never allows his vids to stay on you tube for long.)

Venetian Calls Bishop of Croydon 'Banal'

Venetian Calls Bishop of Croydon 'Banal' is the latest, breaking news. 🙂 He's banal if he thinks the Bible is. No, I have by no means read it all, but some is stupendous. Er ... the Gospels? (The idiot.)

How about Lennon's 'Imagine', and Christians could all worship to that? [Actually, some have! Great tune, but very wooly lyrics.] "Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try ... " etc.

It's fine if someone wants to be an agnostic, but to be a bishop at the same time?? (Idiot.)

calm down, calm down (said in best brookie accent!)

actually V, the bishop states imagine as being one on his pick list!

maybe he means, that to todays young people the bible seems banal but if they can be lured in using "hip" music, yep, snare 'em! 😀

actually, i'm not sure why he chooses Imagine...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

"Imagine" is actually a common choice for liberal vicars. They are deaf/ignorant to the lyrics.

I'm calm, as I'm not even an orthodox Christian at all. :p But the Christian liberals are also ignorant as to the power of sound (and music). Sound has a huge power to shape consciousness and society, including for the worse. The ancients and mystery schools knew this. So silly hip Christians promote "Christian rock" for example, where the lyrics may be Christian but overshadowed by volume and power and rhythms proven by many scientific experiments to be harmful to body cells and ...... tell you what, I better not get going on this subject! :p

I'm no Christian in the traditional sense, but can't stand the ignorance of the liberals within the church which I feel kinda on behalf of those who are Christian! 🙂

Anyway, thanx for the link.
