"Just know what is happening in your mind - not happy or sad about it, not attached. If you suffer see it, know it, and be empty. It's like a letter - you have to open it before you can know what's in it."
(Ajahn Chah - Theravada Thai Forest Tradition)
Lovely, thanks for the reminder, Elen.

My pleasure, Mercy!
Thank you. Would be just as appropriate in Thought for Today. 🙂
A very good practice to maintain,Elen......
Here's a little tale of morality. Hope you like it ?
A great Zen master had a diciple who was overly obsesed with morality. The diciple's every action was considered in such minute detail before it was done that he lost all spontaneity, and no longer acted spontaniously to help others.
The Zen master decided to free the diciple from his obsession in a typically Zen way. He asked the diciple to accompany him to town to do some errands. They stopped in a cafe to buy something to eat, and the master ordered one vegetarian meal and one containing meat.
The diciple was so fanatically vegetarian, he had forgotten the underlying kindness of refraining from eating meat in his obsession to avoid it. When the meals arrived the master gave the diciple the meat meal and ate the vegetarian meal himself....
I think sometimes, this is a good lesson to learn........
No one is so special or clever
that they are beyond morality.
Because we are all subject
to the laws of karma,
we must try to practice morality
as much as possible.
That's lovely Elen. I have got Ajahn Chah's small book (I got a copy at the Thai Temple in Wimbledon) and his words/reflections are quite beautiful. I keep the book nearby.

Thank you for your comments Serewen.
I enjoyed your tale Oakapple, thanks for sharing.
I love Ajahn quotes too, Lotusflower. I've been to the Thai temple in Wimbledon myself, but not for quite a while.
Love to all,
Elen

We live in the South East so we tend to get up to Wimbledon an average of once a month. It's such a lovely place to visit and my OH loves it as he gets to speak Thai for a whole day!!!!
