Any one else been to visit Warwick castle this summer?
We went on Tuesday, it was a fantastic day out. We had some money off coupons from Iceland so decided to take the lads for an outing. Downside, it was very busy, but it was a glorious sunny day.
There's jousting on all summer - Twice a day. It was worth going just to see that. A hilarious performance by a professional stunt group, with much clapping for the hero and booing the bad guy 😀
The worlds Largest Trebuchet - A kind of catapault..... Google it !! Awsome to see it fired off.
Dueling Knights. A display of Archery, a diplay of Birds of Prey. All that as well as a lovely castle to explore. My legs are still killing me from all the steps up the towers. There's a period display with waxworks dummies in the 'working' rooms of the castle. We just ran out of time otherwise we'd have gone on the ghost tour too. Well worth a visit if you've never been before.

RE: Warwick Castle
Hi Sioux,
Sounds like a good day out. I haven't been to Warwick Castle but I have heard that it has its fair share of ghosts, and it also has the remains of a hanging scaffold on the roof.
Grisly!
However, you seem to have had a good day by the looks of your photo.
Love,
Patsy.

RE: Warwick Castle
Oh I went this summer too.
Really enjoyed it, saw the birds of prey and the Trebuchet - great day out.
Arent the grounds luvly, just a shame the price is so high to get in. Fully recommend it though.

[&:] Am feeling a bit miffed this post has been moved from the General Board, I didn't consider the topic to be a Holiday or Travel one. It was more for general viewing, and seeing how the school holidays are almost at an end thought it would be nice for people to know there's a great day out, out there, but I suppose rules are rules.

RE: Warwick Castle
Does it still hold the King Maker's Feast in the Undercroft?. For my husband's 40th birthday (8 years ago) I booked us in on this medievil feast in the evening. It was brilliant!. There were serving wenches that kept re-filling the wine 'bucket' and serving the food. We had to bang the tables and shout "bring on the meat!". They then thought that there was a 'Yorkist spy' among the diners and the wenches ended up at my husband and accusing him!. He was made to go up and stand at the top table and taste the first piece of meat in case he had poisoned it!! He was then made to sing 'Leaning on a lamppost' ( good job he had had a lot of wine!). I have never laughed so much. We were all then led out from the Undercroft to see the King Makers exhibition before going back to the Undecroft to continue the evening. We were all supposed to be going into battle the next day for our king!
Highly recommend it if they are still running it,
Love and light
