I know it doesn't really qualify as a 'holiday' but it does involve a short bit of travelling: I am off to Norfolk today to stay with a friend for the weekend. I was going to bid you all farewell until Sunday night, but I expect I shall sneak onto her computer and log in to HP at some point, so as to stay up to date with the forums.
Byeeeee for now anyway

Edited to say that, having heard the weather forecast, I fear this may be me: or even this:
but I am so looking forward to it, I don't even mind if this is what's in store:
RE: Norfolk
Have a great time lovely Sunanda...

I live in norfolk and feel there are Mountains of great places to see. Depends on your preference. Lots of beautiful walks, visitors sites, Norwich is lovely city to visit for day time shopping. Let us know how you get on in the wilds!!!

It was only a weekend but the weather wasn't too bad and the scenery was great. Here are a couple of pix:
from a drive along the coast. Then here's a lovely shopping arcade in Norwich:
It was really great to breathe truly fresh air and to catch up with an old and valued friend, someone I was really comfortable with and didn't have to put on any airs or graces!

PS I had visions of buying a little cottage in a little village - but until I win the lottery it will have to stay a vision!
RE: Norfolk

RE: Norfolk
Yes, Eve - Burnham Overy, etc. There was a fabulous market in Burnham Market, absolutely huge, but we couldn't find anywhere to park - probably just as well as I would have spent a fortune! we had a cream tea in the garden of a hotel somewhere along the way. Just a lovely relaxed day out. (Started off in Holt. Nice little town.)

OOh thanks for posting the pics Sunanda, and I'm glad you had a lovely time! I have only ever been to Wroxham in Norfolk- probably the only place on earth where TESCO doesn't exist!!!!
Nice to have you back:D

But Sunanda, that's just what we are doing ~ well kind off, after our last disaster we are not actually going to buy, we're going to rent, but we should hopefully be on the move by October this year, so hold on to the 'vision' you never know 😀

RE: Norfolk
Thanks everyone. The really great thing (and I was only there for 3 days so it was hardly 'hols'!) was spending time with a very old friend, so being able to be completely relaxed. My friend, Jennie, said the same thing - apparently she'd had a couple who were friends of her husband's to stay and had to make small talk etc so found it very wearing.
Jay - I have pmed you.

RE: Norfolk
Well Holt is a great little town! im so pleased you got to visit it. I just love all the shops there.
Yes isnt it great when you havent got make any conversation if not needed! Im going to visit an old friend in Newcastle next weekend and i havent seen her for nearly two years, but that aint a problem- she knows me so well. I love it because she knows that when i get tired - if were out in a pub/club i seem moody and unapproachable or it looks like somethings wrong, but she knows that im just plain old Tired and sometimes gets me to sit on her lap or lay my head on her lap so i can have a nap!! he he.xx
