Hi all
I desperatly need a week a way ,has anyone been to Protugal, can they recommend somewhere that is great for familes with teenage/older children before they go off to uni:)
Been to the Algarve twice in the last 6 years - both times with teenager/uni student (2 daughters). Each time we stayed in a villa - first near Albufeira, second time, just along the cost from Lagos.
The girls weren't interested in the local night life (thankfully), prefering to doss on the beach and eat grilled sardines all day. Uni student decided that it was the last family holiday she ever wanted to go on - her father and I enjoy exploring - he objected to spending hundreds simply for her to do what she does at home - sleep in bed till midday, then sleep on the beach till mid afternoon, then ask 'what's for tea?
This year we are taking the youngest (now 21) to Florida - we've been before when she was much younger, but this time she actually wants to visit places!!! Eldest daughter slightly envious, but more interested in grown up stuff like mortgages and working.
Thanks
Thanks Jabba,
I am finding it hard to please both of them one to relax and one to exlore, just worried the younger one wants to try the nightlife with the older one, I know I have to let them go sometime, how did they grow up so quickly
Well I love Portugal, but I'm afraid I haven't got kids, so I have never looked at it from that perspective. Our favourite place is Vilamoura. Quite posh with a few trendy places round the marina and loads of fabulous places to eat. If all else fails you can always look at all the yachts and pretend one of them is yours!
At our last trip in Portugal i was impressed by the anti allergy bedds in the Grande hotel in Porto. Respect, great achievement! The whole room was designed for allergy sufferers:eek:
