It's in the School of Integrated Health, and the title is Complementary Therapies:Bodywork and it's part-time. I'm a bit nervous because my first degree was in English Literature! I'm 75% sure that I want to do something academic to back up my practice.........it's the 25% that's worrying and that factor is the unknown quantity.
Is there anyone on the Forum who has experience of anythng similar?
The open day is next Weds, so I'll find out a bit more then.

RE: Just been offered an MSc place at Westminster
Sounds cool! When you do the modules if you don't finish the degree can you walk away with various qualifications/certificates relating to the modules? If so then I'd go for it even though I was 75% sure.

Yup - I went to the open day and it looks just want I need and I'm going to go for it, starting September.
"The core modules offer grounding in academic and research skills(individually tailored), reflective exploration of clinical work and a research project leadint to a dissertation. Learning in a multi-professional group, you gain a broad conceptual base in the field as a foundation for exploring your individual interests in the reseach for your dissertation."
Not sure about your question Darren - I should think you'ld end up with a diploma of some kind if you didn't finish. You can take up to 5 years to complete anyway.

Hi there
It all sounds great, and I'm sure you'll be fine - it's just a very natural fear of the unknown kicking in temporarily!
My first degree was in ancient history, but I later went on to train and qualify as a lawyer, and then as a massage therapist. And from my experience both as a student (several times over!) and as a university lecturer, I'd say that the most important thing is your commitment. If you really want to do the course and you have a genuine interest in it, you'll get through it, no matter what.
Westminster also has a great reputation, so I'm sure you'll get all the support and encouragement that you need.
Go for it!

Thank you - that's good to hear, as it was one of my worries that my initial background is quite different from this. What an interesting career you've had!

Hey that's great news!
I am starting at Westminster in September too! I will be doing a BSc Hons in Complementary Therapies. I haven't done a degree before, my background is actually in childcare, so this is a completely different path, but I can't wait to start!
Good luck with your course, it seems like a great campus and I can't wait to get stuck in!

Oh that's brilliant - we'll have to meet up. I thought all the staff seemed really good and the place was bright and friendly.
Good luck with your studies too.

Congrats. I'm jealous!
RE: Just been offered an MSc place at Westminster
Well when you feel better come along and enrol then!
RE: Just been offered an MSc place at Westminster
Sounds a good idea to me Spinal Music. I'm sure that once enrolment is over and things settle we can meet up. Would be nice to actually meet someone from the forum.
I finish my VTCT massage coure in a few weeks, as we are tying up loose ends i.e. finishing portfolios, getting everything signed off etc. Can't wait to finish as it means going to uni is that one step closer!:D
*starts counting down the months till she starts the course*

I've got some re-organising to do: and decisions to make as to whether to carry on with all my classes and clients or cut some out and take a reduction in income! Mine's part-time and can take anything from 2-5 years, depending on how many modules I take each term. I need the challenge - but not too much pressure. Look forward to meeting you in the Autumn some time, Sharonx
RE: Just been offered an MSc place at Westminster
I'm making the ultimate sacrifice by giving up full time work so I can do my course. There is no way I could do it part time while in the job I'm currently doing. On the plus side, I have no partner and no kids, so I'm a free agent which makes things so much easier. I couldn't do this if I had a family, it would be too much hassel from my personal perspective.
Biggest decision I've made, as I've got used to working full time for the last 8 years (on a low income might I add I always get paid less than I'm worth in my opinion!) so it's crunch time for me.
Oh well goodbye regular pay and manic job and hello to budgeting and student loans! [&:]
