Hi All
I'm due to take my exams in about a months time. I'm really worried about the practical and the types of questions likely to be asked. Can anyone give an example of the questions they were asked. I know I'll still be petrified but at least I'll have some sort of idea.
Thanks a lot
RE: ITEC Reflexology Practical Exam
Hi Snitchley
I took my reflexology a couple of months ago, and it wasn't too hairy, so I'm sure you'll do great. The examiner asked why my client had come for treatment that day, & in view of their reason for coming, which reflexes I was concentrating on, which you can indicate on your client's foot. She added some additional reflexes it would be useful to include in the treatment, so I also pointed these out on my client's foot. She asked what I had identified in the foot inspection and made some observations about particular reflexes on my clients foot; for example, there was an area of dryness on the bladder reflex, which could indicate dehydration.
It was different from some of the other ITEC exam's I've done, as she didn't ask direct questions as such; there was no 'can you give me some GP referral contra-indications to reflexology' or 'can you name the bones of the ankle'. The questions were more client focussed, to do with locating reflexes for their treatment that day and locating reflexes useful for the condition you're treating at that time.
Whether this is standard for ITEC & their approach is always the same, I'm not sure, but hopefully this may give you some idea of what you could expect.
All the best with your exam.

RE: ITEC Reflexology Practical Exam
Hi Snitchley
I sat my Reflexology practical recently and it was fine. The examiner really put us all at ease and all the questions were normal.
I was asked about my Reading of the feet . What did her skin colour indicate.
Also asked to point out some reflex points- kidney, shoulder point, etc etc.
If you learn the contraindication, benefits and know your points you should sail through it.
If its anything like ours you will be fine.
Good luck.
RE: ITEC Reflexology Practical Exam
Thanks Claudette, Rosie and PineappleGirl for your responses. Makes me feel a little better.
The practical exams are always the worst for me, seem to get so nervous and tongue tied even if I do know the answer it doesn't seem to want to come out! Now at least I've got an idea of what they may ask.
Thanks again
