Hi
Has anybody done the ITEC Diet and Nutrition diploma. Any comments or observations on it most welcome.
Thanks 😀

Hi Jupiter,
I am currently studying it....finding it fast paced and in-depth, but very interesting....looking forward to the case studies 🙂
have you any thoughts on it you would like to share? are you doing it/thinking about doing it?
Hi BS
Yes, I'm thinking about doing it but there doesn't seem to be many colleges etc running that particular course.
Ideally I'd like to study nutrition in depth i.e to degree level but I have to work full time and can't find an open learning option anywhere.
One brick wall after another at the moment :banghead:
If you are looking for case study volunteers (providing you can do the discussion parts via email) I'd be a happy volunteer.

Hi, I don't think this itec diet and nutrition is that in depth - don't think you could get a job out of it (as far as I know)...so if you wanted to start a career in it have maybe have a look at other courses.... i'm sure practicing dieticians etc could give you some more advice.
Thanks for the offer for case study - I actually had loads of people asking me to do it on them - people really want to know what to eat etc....it's great so many are interested.
I hope you find something suitable, best of luck x
Hi Beauty Student. Do you have any past papers for the Itec Diet & Nutrition as they seem to be few? Thanks.
In the future it will be BANT registered nutritionists who will be recognised. I would suggest doing a course listed on the BANT or NTC website.
The Institute of Optimum Nutrition offer Diploma/Degree level courses (which are held at weekends) as does Westminster University.
I, personally, would only ever go to a BANT registered nutritionist.

Hi Lorie, I haven't managed to get my hands on any yet....but my tutor will be doing out ITEC style questions for us soon, so i'll post them for you x
I've done the ITEC course and it's not intended as a stand alone nutritional qualification more as a supplement to their other holistic therapy courses.
From their website.. "The course covers the digestive system, absorption, distribution, metabolism, and nutrients. Included are: calories, RDAs, cholesterol, carbohydrates, proteins, vegetarian diets, food allergies and food poisoning. This is ideal for any complementary therapist who wishes to be able to give more guidance to their clients on healthy eating and the holistic approach.."
It will enable you to take a dietary history, calculate calorie and nutrient intakes, give basic advice on nutritional supplements and recommend a healthy eating plan.
After the course you will be able to advise clients with no underlying medical conditions on most aspects of their dietary lifestyle professionally and competently - you will not be able to advise people with medical conditions and will not be able to gain employment as a nutritionist or dietitian within the healthcare system; for that you need a degree level course.
Personally I found the course extremely useful and informative - it gave me a good base level of knowledge and helped me answer most questions clients ask about eating.
Hi there,
I am currently studying itec diet and nutrition course. Do you think you could send me your case studies and forms as I need some help with them.
Many thanks
hale,
not wishing to sound rude but this is really stuff your tutor should be helping you with.
There are sample forms for case studies on the ITEC website which should be the basis for your own.
Let me know what you're really stuck on and I'll try to give you some help...
I am trying to design a consultation form and I just would like to compare it in case I missed any questions.
thanks
OK, I don't have that with me right now but will try to remember to post up a blank 'ITEC-style' form later 🙂
thank you very much:)
hale,
my home computer has run out of internets or something !! and I can't upload stuff from work, as soon as I get properly back online I'll get something to you by e-mail - the forms are far too big to cut'n'paste to a thread.......

Hi. That thread is over seven years old. You probably won't get a reply.

Few ITEC courses are full time. Most are modular with a lot of home study. Check their website, or give their head office a call to get more info.
