If DL is a growing market, and feel strongly about such matters, I should put my money where my mouth is and become a provider myself.
That is an excellent idea. If you yourself are able to write high-quality materials which can be delivered online then everyone is a winner. I am really pleased that this thread has resulted in this outcome. A very positive outcome, in my opinion.

If you arent happy with your course, its been said so many times on here...go to trading standards....although SNHS are based in Spain (wonder why), so unless you go to some european court, theres no redress there....
I'm not sure why TS would be interested if the course is provided as advertised and you can get insurance. There's obviously some happy people because there's positive posts about them on these forums, as well as some negative. Presumably the positive outweighs the negative as they are regular advertisers here. There are two UK addresses listed on the contact page and they seem easily accessible.
My brother lives and runs an online business just up the coast from the SNHS Spanish address, so I don't read anything dubious into them being in Spain...... The weather is better. 😀 Its getting more common now for computer based businesses.

Good idea RP, best of luck.

There have been posts on here linking them to a discredited degree mill, same address still as said disgraced degree mill. If you dont know what a degree mill is, google it, its fascinating.
Anyway, you get what you pay for £95 for a practitioner level course :rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh::rollaugh:
Hi Fasciaman
...Stonebridge, ive had dealings with these nasties, you dont want to get on their bad side, ie, make a complaint, as they bare their very sharp teeth!.....
Sorry to go off-topic, but I'm worried about this comment, because I'm taking a 52-module Chinese Medical Theory course, to Diploma level, with Stonebridge.
I'm only doing it for general knowledge to complement my nutritional medicine quals - as I find TCM fascinating. I've not had any trouble with Stonebridge, and everything is fine. I'm happy with the materials and all my dealings with them. However, 52 lessons is a big investment of my time - so, I am interested to know what problems you had? Forewarned is forearmed, perhaps?

Hi Ava,
out of date and inaccurate information, shoddy course material, with no substance, and when I complained and asked for the money back I had paid, I got a couple of VERY nasty responses from 'admin' who turned out to be the owner. I refused to pay anything else, and was promptly passed on to a debt recovery agency. I am daring them to take me to court but very much doubt it, as they dont have a leg to stand on.....that was months ago, and as yet, no court action, but as I said, ive told them I would welcome it.....got some very good witnesses if I do!
That said.....I have nothing against home learning in general, there are literally thousands of DL courses nowadays, and some of them are probably best suited to online/home learning as opposed to classroom (one of them is A&P), I do however have something against those that offer hands on therapies, ie reflex, massage etc, as I just cannot believe it can be learnt this way.
As for the other course provider mentioned on here that charge £95 for a course. I have seen some 'lessons' and I kid you not, they were photocopied sheets of what I can only describe as very badly written drivell, and sorry if that offends some of the people who have taken these 'courses', but I read some very good books on CAM, and these 'courses' dont even have as much useful information in their whole, as the textbooks do on their back cover!
Fasciaman, as you are casting doubt on the integrity of a school that this website accepts sponsored adverts from, have you contacted the healthypages owners about your concerns?
Of course there is also a certain irony in DL bashers gracing a forum to insult members who are happy with DL but also quite happy to make use of a website accepting sponsored advertising for DL practitioner courses costing £95..... 😀

Hi Debo76,
I apologise if my comments caused any offence, I sincerely hope your experience of some of the DL courses mentioned were better than mine.
My opinion of these DL training providers will remain the same, as these are my experiences.
I would advise anyone thinking of taking ANY course, DL or not, to thoroughly research the Internet and search the vast amount of postings on Healthypages, before making a decision.
Fasciaman I dont think you need to apologise. Many people including myself have had the same experiences and I am sure that in time these problems will be resolved and if by posting our experiences on HP it saves others time and money then that should be encouraged.
Incidently, today I was looking on the website for the Register of Exercise Professionals. They clearly state that they will NOT accept qualifications gained from two major distance learning comapanies(who I believe have been mentioned) except for Yoga.

Don't know anything about their yoga course, but I see that SNHS yoga isn't on the disapproved list here

Rather than assume its accepted, anyone particularly wanting to join REPS would be wise to check with the register first before signing up for any seemingly approved (because its not published online that its disapproved) course.

Hello,
could anyone recommend a distance learning itec qualification in A & P?I want to brush up on my anatomy as I have forgotten alot of this since my nvq training, I think this was because I was concentrating more on the massaging itself then the A & P.
I have found 2 courses but they are around the £4/500 mark which I cannot afford. There must be some cheaper courses around?
Must be a distance learning and must be itec or as recognisable.
Thanks for any help. Rebecca

What you also need to consider when chosing a course is will it be accepted by a Professional Association and then will you get insurance for it? Both of these are important factors and by going to a PA site like The Federation of Holistic Therapists you will get a good idea of what is accepted and what is not

I think you need ask first about insurance. Not all insurance companies recognise distance learning.
