Is it good or bad that all my case studies are falling asleep during my full body massage! Also is it OK to miss out the chest, abdomen and face massage if someone specifically says they don't like it?

Thanks

Sounds as though you're giving great relaxing massages! The only issue to be aware of is that your case studies may be rather disorientated when they wake up, and may even be a bit embarrassed, so be sensitive to this.

If someone specifically doesn't like certain body parts being massaged, then respect their wishes. There is nothing to be gained by ploughing ahead regardless, except a non-returning client...

RE: Case studies falling asleep

Hi there
I have the same problem and now take it as a compliment.
I am at the stage now that I am enjoying doing them and thank God for cut and paste as we have a mock practical next week and I have only handed in one case study even though I have actually done about 10 massages of the 20 but have to organise my time better. Right now I am about 7 weeks away from finishing a PGCE and have this week got a job as a reception teacher from September, this has eased some of my stress and now I will have to up the revision for the mock and real exams.
Good luck with your work and keep up those relaxing massages!
Regards

RE: Case studies falling asleep

When my clients fall asleep, they often get embarrased, especially if they think they might have been snoring, but I tell them, as far as I'm concerned it's a really good sign and joke with them that the louder the better.... This takes away their embarrassment and makes them realise that they're not the only one.

As far as which parts to massage. I always go through the massage routine with my clients and if there's a particular area they don't want treated, respect that, but remember that the treatment time should still be the same length, so you might want to spend some more time on the back or wherever.

Hi I`m about to start my case studies for massage and aromatherapy. This is an interesting question. What happens when you are doing the practical exam and the client does not wish the abdomen, buttocks to be massaged, what do I do then.Do more massage where the client needs or wants it and explain to the examiner? When in class some of us have an aversion to various parts beeing included but we have to get on and do them.I understand that the clients wishes should be taken notice of but what happens in an exam?
I too have found with family that they fall asleep and I feel awful that they shoul be woken up to turn over.
