Hiya

Has anyone done an aromatherapy distance learning course? Or done an aromatherapy course that doesnt include learning the massage side?

Do you really need to learn the massage side if you already hold a massage qualification?

Any advice would be great please

Thank you 🙂

I posted a reply recently to someone else about this, but cant remember where! I'm just about to start a distance learning massage course, I am being mentored through by my therapist, as its completely new to me.
My view is that if you already hold a qualification in Massage, self learning by distance is great, and very cost effective. I'm doing my qualifications through the School of Natural Health Sciences

This is also who my therapist studied with. Hope this helps!

Hi welshrarebit

The style of massage for aromatherapy is different to a swedish massage for example, or even a sports massage - so yes, I think you do have to do the massage part of it.

The course I studied on did not include the percussive movements in the massage routine, such as hacking and cupping etc, but each teacher has their own massage techniques.

I do think in time education will be possible to a greater extent via skype on the internet - there are a lot of courses out there already doing this - but I haven't heard of one for aromatherapy as yet.

Love Binah

I'd recommend getting Anatomy & Physiology first, but also a massage qualification. At least is give you the basics of massage. I am studying aromatherapy through the SNHS and it has been easier as all I need to learn are the oils and blending. Thoroughly enjoying it!

Thanks for all your replies, I am currently studying the ITEC A&P and Holistic massage, so I just wated to learn the oils part of it, but not sure what the distance learning courses are like!

If they are any good an are they insurable with Embody? Some of them are soooo expensive, the ones I looked at worked out about £1100 for 4 modules!

Would love to use the oils professionally, but not sure I want to go through the whole rigmarole of case studies and more exams at the moment! lol
