Hello everyone.
I'm doing some research for my mother, who is taking the M74 and M2 exams in a few weeks.
I have been led to believe that actual m74 and m2 questions can be found on this forum? Or an entire exam paper? Is this possible?
I've done a search in the forum, but have not found a full exam or any questions. Sorry to seem dumb, but I haven't been able to find them!
She tells me that she is looking for questions related to m2, m74, business and health and safety. Not being part of any courses doesn't give me much of an edge to help her research and prepare for multiple choice questions (She's never done anything of the sort before, multiple choice wise).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
RE: m74 Paper?
Hi Tex
I know exactly how you feel it seems like even between colleges they can't teach all the students the same things. In our stuff we had three different dates for COSHH so hey unreal isn't it.
Haven't been in touch with VTCT. Would be interested to hear about what your lecturer has to say tomorrow, if you don't mind.

RE: m74 Paper?
Hi Chrissy!!
My lecturer knew nothing, typical!!! Infact I was able to tell her what was going on from this forum. She didn't even know when we could expect the results. The only thing she did tell us was that the we would receive the results through the post.
I'm sick of my college, they can NEVER answer any of the questions we ask!!! Well frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: m74 Paper?
Hi Tex
Sorry you are frustrated with your college. I must admit not asked about when results are in, all I know is it is before June as we can re-sit beforehand. If I find anything out you will be the first to know.

RE: m74 Paper?
We were told different answers for some of the questions, for example:
11 What is the most important thing to undertake when dealing with the Data Protection Act
a. Code all the data
b. Details must be available to everyone
c. Clients must agree who can see the data
d. All clients details must be on the record
Answer c
We were told the answer was D.
and...
4) Why should records of each client be kept
a_ It is a legal requirement
b. The therapist will need to see what treatments have gone before
c.You may need to send them to the doctor
d. The client might want to see them
Answer (d)
We were told B.
The teachers at my college were disgusted at some of the questions as they were so ambiguous. They themselves didn't know what the correct answers would be in some cases. It really depended on your point of view for some of the Aroma/Reflex/Nutrition ones. I guess VTCT have a list of what the correct answers should be, but some of them should really be up for debate! Some of the questions had nothing to do with being a competent therapist, and a lot of them covered things that hadn't even been mentioned in lessons/paperwork.
A huge farce...
RE: m74 Paper?
Hi There,
Has anybody foung a quick and easy way to memorize the muscles and their actions ? I can spend hours looking at them, just to find its all went fuzzy an hour later.
Many Thanx

RE: m74 Paper?
Hiya,
I did the mock paper at college last night, it appears that for a couple of questions, a couple of answers would be correct. It is not a legal requirement to keep any records of the client, but when you do they have to comply with data protection and the client is the one who agrees who can see them.
VTCT haven't thought about this properly, it's completely messed up!
I have my mock exams 16th and 17th June

RE: m74 m2
Hi beautybabe,
I've just got my M74/M2 workbook back. We didn't do assignments as such for this, but provided answers to specific questions.
If you have a specific question let me know and I'll post up the answer I gave (PS it has been marked as a pass)
Cheers

RE: m74 m2
Hi FB
On Element 4: Support Professional Practices for the Health and safety of the client mandatory
j) Give three examples of contra-actions to treatments
k) State the advice to be given to the client in each case.
Bearing in mind this is for beauty treatments!
Thankyou for your help with this

RE: m74 m2
Hmmmm, Beauty Treatments (could do with some of those!!)
Out of the 3 I've put down, probably only 2 would be useable I think.
Redness (erthyma - not sure of the spelling) this is possibly a "normal" reaction to a treatment in massage it would be from maybe frictions - note - it is not an allergic reaction. Similarly in some beauty treatments I would think you may be pinkness from blood coming to the surface e.g. waxing. The advice to the client would be that this is a temporary occurence and that the redness should fade. If it hasn't faded within say 4 hours then it may be an indication of something else like bruising.
Dizziness- Beauty treatments promote relaxation. If the client moves too quickly after the treatment the lowering of the blood pressure could cause them to feel dizzy. Client should move slowly after the treatment and not rush. If the client does feel dizzy either raise the legs above the head level (stop laughing!! My imagination is just too vivid) or place the clients head below heart level towards the knees ( be careful about the latter as the client might actual pass out and land on her/his head!!)
I hope this helps some
Cheers

RE: m74 m2
What about itching and raised blisters, can you state the advice for these i would give to the client.
Im so grateful for your help!
Thankyou
beautybabe
RE: m74 m2
Err, If I had a client (I'm doing massage BTW) who had itching and raised blisters I'd be pretty concerned. It sounds like an allergic reaction to the products being used which is more serious.
In the first instance I would use Rosewater to remove the product. That would probably calm the itching and then advise the client to contac their GP if the condition hadn't been relieved within 12 hours.
With raised blisters I would use the rosewater, but honestly I think I would refer the client to either the local casualty department or their GP I would be concerned about anaphylactic reaction here. (that's why I tend to use non-allergenic products and avoid anything nut or wheat based - a treatment isn't a good time to discover an allergy!!).
I thought that beauty therapists did patch tests at least 24 hours ahead of treatment to identify skin sensitivity.
Sorry I can't be anymore help than this
Good Luck

Hi chaps,

1). How many membranes are there? answer 3
2). make sure you know the Illeum, Ishium bones are part of the Pelvis,
3). Answer to the Sphincter question is one that is along the lines of " Oribillious Orisis" .....( eye).
4). Dermis question .....answer is hair follicles and soemthing else. choose the hair follicle option.
5). Thoracic vertebrea....answer is 12
6). asks for which options are found in the trunk....aswer is the one that has Rhomboids and Obliques.

basically they are very easy, 19 questions and all my guys in my class gaurenteed they got at least 11 right which is all you needed to pass.
Good Luck.

RE: m74 Paper?
Thanks Panicky
we sat ours today and before i left this morning i came across your mock paper.
About 3/4 of todays questions were on your mock paper - i almost felt like i had cheated !! :):D
thanks again 😉
RE: m74 Paper?
Thanks to everyone on this forum, I had my M2/M74 exam today and most of the questions were on this site. The question about when COSHH became law was still on the exam and the options were still 2001, 1898, 1999 or 1991 - I chose 1999 as it was the only date available I have seen the COSSH law listed as.
There was also a question about heat stress - Which is the psyhological symptom of heat stress a) dizziness b) irritibility c) fainting or d) another physical symptom.
Good Luck to everyone who took this exam today.
RE: m74 Paper?
i put Irritability for that one and 1991 for the COSSH act as they renew/update it quite often. I think its the date it actually came into being that they were after.
Good luck 😀 a long wait now till the results!! Do you have your A&P this Thursday also??
RE: m74 Paper?
I chose irritibility too. I just have an Indian Head Massage exam which is set by my tutor so at least I know the questions will be based on what we have been taught!
How long do we have to wait for our results on M2/M74?
RE: m74 Paper?
For info... I've just found on the Internet that COSHH was enacted in 1988 and came into force October 1989.
RE: m74 Paper?
i think its about 6 weeks - i just have to get my portfolio in order and then sit back and wait - nail biting all the way 😀
RE: m74 Paper?
I've done some more Internet searching on the COSHH date and the HSE site state 'The COSHH Regulations, and their associated Approved Code of Practice, came into force on 25 March 1999. The Regulations contain the provisions of two sets of earlier Regulations, both now revoked: COSHH 1988 and COSHH 1994'
Sorry if this causes more confusion, I think I'll just try to forget the exam now and keep my fingers crossed that I've passed.
RE: m74 Paper?
Going back to the question why should records be kept, I thought it was a legal requirement and I remember my tutor saying this in the class. So what's correct?
Unfortunately when I took my ihm vtct last July at a private school the M2 and M74 have turned out not to be valid for my swedish body massage course at college which started Sept last year. Having completed the swedish massage course and being told that the M2 and M74 I did with my ihm were OK, they have now contacted me (now I have completed the course!) to say I have to sit the exams because they weren't externally verified when I did my ihm! Things have changed between July and Sept would you believe. Great eh. Now I need to get back into classroom mode!

RE: m74 Paper?
The question about CCosh in case anybody else gets this it means control of substances hazardous to health as 4 years ago I hate these questions but this year I have done IHM on the 8th June 2005 I will do my M74 paper I just hope I do ok I have done lots of revision this has been out homework each week. I find this website really helpful too thanks
RE: m74 Paper?
Just found this site recently and i sat this exam yesterday and whilst i think we were lucky that it was bit more straightforward than some of the past ones some of the questions were either badly worded or inconclusive.Looking at this thread i would say there are coule of dodgy questions i.e. we were always told room temp should reach a minimum of 16c after 1 hour and optimium room temp was 18.3c so in that case i think 20c should have been right answer. The one about what should you do if contraindication is foundis again dubious as we were always told if you write to g.p never to use words like permission or consent as it could affect their insurance and was against advice of BMA.Number 9 on fire extinguishers either blue or black is right and they should not be able to mark you wrong for either. As for why you should keep client's records then if it had been worded why should you keep every record of a client then i would say answer might be b(so you can refer back to previous treatments)but as it was worded why should records of each client i would say probably d or even a.
RE: m74 m2

RE: VTCT M2/M74
Hi Sharon,
I'm a new user and just read your message. I am currently completing my reflexology course and have my M2/M74 multiple choice exam tomorrow. Just wondered how your exam went? Do you think you did ok and were the questions quite easy?
RE: VTCT M2/M74
Hi Kimber,
Hope your exam went o.k. Got the results of mine last night and despite the fact that I was unsure whether I had answered a few correctly, I scored 92% so I must have known more than I thought I did! Thought it was o.k. although a couple of questions could have had two possible answers. How about yours?
