Questions in practical - answers reqd - help please!

Hi, these are some of the questions that may be asked in the practical that I would appreciate some forumers feedback.

Why do you have a towel under the knees?

Why wouldn’t you massage the feet with the client in the prone position?

What are the advantages of massaging a well toned body?

Cheers,

Neko (Kat)

RE: Massage Question

Well, for massage in the Supine position, the bolster should go under the knees to align the back, but for additional comfort, a small pillow can be placed in the small of the back while massaging the abdomen. This little gem was dropped on us in class the other day and may just be a trick question.

RE: Massage Question

agree pillow under the knees

the effects of effluerage = (B) to bring waste products to the surface. this appeared in my mock last week.

i believe physiological effect of kneading is is (B) to prevent muscle fatigue

RE: ITEC Holistic Massage Exam

Hi there,

Massage cream on dry skin is definitely correct as it states in the text book that 'minerals oils, such as baby oil, dry the skin'.

Does anyone know what the correct proceedure for dealign with an epiletic fit is? A past question I did said one thing and notes from my course say another! How do we know which is right?!?!

RE: More mind boggling questions... ITEC Holistic Massage

Regarding confusion over which questions are right in the ITEC exam questions - one answer given to us by our tutor is 'some answerswill be right, but oneanswer will be more right than others!!'

ITEC Holistic Massage Exam Paper

Sat my Holistic Massage Paper yesterday and it wasn't too bad.

All the Complementary Therapy questions are fine - just remember that Alexander is posture and the others are easy. 🙂

Bit of a discussion after with other students about whether a question was regarding upper arm or upper forearm and what movements should be used to relieve tension. It was agreed it should be thumb petrissage which ever part of the arm it was!

Thumb petrissage was also correct for lumbar region tension - so don't let the same answer put you off as it did me!

There was also a question on osteopathy which was worded in a typical ITEC confusing manner as I was looking for a musculo-skeletal answer but it wasn't as simple as that! But tried to get it right by a process of elimination - you know it's not spine or pressure points so that really only left one correct answer. 😡

Bell's Palsy was a nervous disorder. 😮

The rest really weren't that bad if you know the answer!

Sorry I can't remember too many more but these were the worst ones.

Good luck everyone - hope this helps - even if it only gives you one extra answer that you didn't know then it was worth racking my almost empty brain!

Only the practical to go - roll on 4 weeks time.

Holistic, A&P, Business exam today

Well it started well with Holistic which wasn't too bad then the A&P which wasn't great and then i found the business one quite hard.

I'll try and remember some, Emma has mentioned quite alot, the questions will be mixed up as its all a blur now

What is the action of the subscapularis?
What helps speed up nerve conduction?
What is one function of the spleen?
what does the Liver store?
What is scoliosis?
Where would you find gliding joints?
What is the function of cancellous bone?
Know osteo-arthritis/rheumatoid arthritis/osteoporosis
a tricky one about a client who suffers with osteoporosis and has refused to get a gp letter, to treat or not to treat:confused:

How would you sit during a consultation eg table inbetween you and client or not??
When would you pay VAT?
sole trader and partnership questions
How long do you have to be employed before being able to recieve maturnity pay and also sick pay?
What colour fire extinguisher holds H2O?
Questions about electricity/safety
What method would destroy micro organisms and spores?
Know the diferences between, balance sheets, profit and loss, cash flow etc...

that should do you for now, didn't want to make it too easy and give you the answers also if i gave the wrong answers i would feel very silly :022:
If i think of any more i will post them up

ta ta for now:)

Can you help me with this question, please?

I sit my holistic massage exam tomorrow and am puzzled by the question~ 'what do you do if a client becomes embarrassed during a consultation'~ Is it continue with the consultation and maintain eye contact or is it stop the consultation and ask them if they want to come back another time. I've seen both answers given to this and would reallly appreciate it if someone could enlighten me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!
PS if any one can tell me how to email directly I be grateful! Have searched for the right way to post this but can't see how to do it ~ am probably looking too hard!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again!

I'm not too sure what you're asking here. Your post has appeared on the thread just fine. Are you asking how to email another member?

I wondered if there was a way to post a message without having to attach it to a thread. Is there a way to put a message on the new posting site directly? I'm sure that there must be a way.....? Again, thanks for the advice

Ah, I see what you mean now 🙂 To start a new THREAD, just go to the main index page of the forum you want to post in ... eg for this one it would be: ... and near the top on the left you'll see a blue button with NEW THREAD on it. Just click on that and choose your title before typing your message, though if you want to change the title line in any way once you've posted the message, you'll have to ask one of the mods to do it - members cannot change new thread titles.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

About the client getting embarrased....keep eye contact with the client and go through the procedure with them. what you are going to do and what they will need to do...we were told to be prepared for that question...

Thanks for advice to my question. I discussed it with the girls from our group just before our exam yesterday evening and we decided to go with what you both have said. The question didn't come up but at least we were all prepared for it if it had. The exam wasn't too bad. Quite a few questions about complimentary therapies, some about the history of massage, some about massage movements, a couple about specific muscles and I can't remember what else there was. It is a relief to be finished studying for a while although I thoroughly enjoyed the course. Good luck with your exam on Wednesday!
