Cibtac Practical & Theory Exams

Hi, I'm having my cibtac theory and practical in beauty and a&p this week. Does anyone have any advice on what areas I should be concentrating on. Our teacher told us to concentrate on the practical stuff and not to bother with the endocrine system etc as even the theory is more practical based for cibtac. Is this correct? Just looking at some of the papers posted on this site, it looks a mix of everything.
Also, has anyone done cibtac exams recently, any details would be appreciated, does anyone have any hints for the practical? I have done some ITEC but feel we were not properly prepared for the CIBTAC exams by our college, and am not feeling very confident!:banghead:

I'm doing CIBTAC Part Time Beutician Course - Exams on June 16 - Going by our teachers we need to know most theory as it is 30% of overall results and they stressed for us to learn all diagrams as these are easy marked to pick up. Hopefully this is of some help. In the meantime if anyone is doing the same course as me and your exams are before mine pls let me know how you get on and also how you are finding the studying and practical. Hopefully we can all help each other other 🙂

I'm doing my CIBTEC Waxing and Manicure & Pedicure on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th May in Cork, any of you wonderful people got any hints as to what came up on the paper or what the examiner asks during the practical??? Really struggling and need all the help I can get!!!!!! 🙂

carlow in ireland sat their cibtac paper this morning
the diagram of the nail the skin came up
match masks to skin type
hair terminal vellus and lango to description
match facial electrical maching to skin type

alot of option type questions 24 of them i was told

the examiner was nice but was very into nail paint and waxing and very particular about apperance

hi sat my cibtac theory few days ago, had a bit of everything, nail diagram, skin diagram, label ethmoid, sphenoid, vomer, turbinale etc, what does titanium oxide do, benefits of top coat, uv rays, infrared rays, match skin types to masks, heaps of option questions which were quite tricky, one about keloid scars, benefits of foundation, brow shaping, contraindications to eye tint, cortex, medula and cuticle.

Hi all, I have some questions which I am not too sure about. I was wondering if somebody could point me in the right direction please ?

Match the box skin types

Dry, Normal Dehydrated, Mature

a. balance of oil in water
b. lacking in sebum

2. Match the clay mask ingredients with what it does ?
Kaolin, Calamine, fullers earth, magnesium sulphate

a. has drawing effect on skin
b. containds zinc and is soothing on skin
c. stimulating
d. midly astringent on the skin and has a toning effect

My answer is a - Fuller earth
b- calamine
c- kaolin
d- Magnesium sulphate

But Im not sure for the answer....

3. UVA , UVB, UVC
a. Penetrates the upper layers of the epidermis
b. penetrates to the dermis
c. Penetrates to the lower layers of the dermis
My answer is a. - UVC
b. - UVB
c. - UVA

4. Where does keratinization take place ?
a. basal layer
b. granulosum
c. spinosum
d. lucidum

The answer is it b (granulosum)??

Can anyone give sample questions please .

Also if you could tell me what i need to study as it was in 2005 when i last did the exam so think there might be a few things different since then.

I'm new here, had to come on as I just got my results and I failed my International exam by 2 marks in Theory only so have to resit in December. Bugger because I got 90% in Practical. However if you fail one you fail the whole thing.

Anyway i have totally forgotten what was in the exam and remember I did find it really hard so wanted to get a copy of an old exam paper. Does anyone know if I can get hold of one? They don't tell you what areas you failed in or give you your paper back so how can I do better next time?!
