On a different note, did you happen to see last nights courier? I was in it and I am absolutely mortified at the picture they took of me, it was horrible, I never thought I looked like that Lol.

I see you are wanting to re-train as a hairdresser/ beauty therapist. What have you been doing up until now?

There is at least one other person i know of from Halifax on the boards, she is called staranise and if I'm not mistaken she owns the holistic health place on salterhebble hill.

I haven't seen last nights courier yet but as it happens i txt my m8 last night to keep hold of her copy so i can scan through the job pages so i will defo look out for you;)

Up until now i have worked in care (15yrs!!!!) so this is a whole new world for me. Unfortunately the shiftwork no longer does it for me and it is hard to juggle the hours i work with childcare and quality time at home. I am totally ready to try something new for me now.... if that makes since! At moment everythings all still very much in the pipeline.... making me completely nervous with bouts of overgiddiness and excitement.. had interview for hairdressing this week so just waiting to see what happens....will keep you posted.

Do you enjoy reiki? what made you go into it? i understand you teach it also? depending how things pan out you might find me sat in the back of your classroom yet hehehe.

Next time i i go through salterhebble i will look out for the holistic place..... i swear i must drive around with my eyes shut!!

Just had a look at your courier piece Donna and I can't see what you mean, I think its a good photo. Saying that though I was never happy with any of the pictures that I've had in the courier, its a shame they don't take a loadand let you choose which you think is best. Anyway its all good publicity and thats whats important.

Hi Diva, yes it is really exciting isn't it when you are starting out on something new, when you are doinf something you really want to do as well, the excitement of it goes on and on!

You are a very brave woman for doing care work for such a long time. I am sure you will be accepted on your hairdressing course, where is it at?

I love Reiki, absolutely love it. I got into it because I had a lot of health problems, depression, stress, polycystic ovaries, food allergies and allsorts. I started doing Yoga which helped a lot and then I read a book and in it a man was talking about how he had seen people healed of allsorts of nasty illnesses. My Mum also had a bad back ever since she had me and had had operations and allsorts with no joy so that was a major reason for doing it too. I am fine now and so is my Mum!

Yes I teach too now, which I also love, I am teaching this weekend. If you want to get some information in the future on courses, let me know, you will be most welcome.

Hi Donna, business is good and of course you are very welcome to come along for a massage when you can :D. Iwill bemeeting up with Tee later this week for swaps, so hopefully my back will get some long overdue attention. Thanks for setting up the therapy swap site by the way, its a great idea. I've been meaning to find another therapist to do swaps with for a couple of years now, just never actually got around to doing it.

donna, i saw the interview in the courier and thought it was great:Dyou truely are a great advertisement for turning your life around[sm=jump1.gif]seems you have found your niche in life. Well done-what an inspiration!! As for the picture.. i can't understand what you don't like about it!!! lol what are we like eh?!? never had reiki before...i'm a bit of an alternative therapy 'virgin' but already i am learning so much....may even pluck up the courage for a session or two!

To be honest, if I can do it anyone can, it's just realising that you can that's the problem! Check out that interview this week (Weds I think) I recommended my Yoga teacher Mary for it, now she's an inspiration, 70 years old and still teaching yoga, a lovely woman aswell.

Hi All,

I am also from Leeds & i was on here a while ago but not been on for ages! I would like to try new things but mainly came on healthpages to find out more about Diabetes as i have it! I was told of all weird naming pulses & have some i have not tried yet! I did have a broken leg for over ten years which has just knitted together last December. I know it's a long time & hope now to get the muscles going. I would like a massage too as i never had one as my back & hips take some stick! I was also wanting to try the indian head massage also but is it hot oil over your head i think that would be a bit much as i am always hot, it feels like my head is going to explode any help or news what that could be? I am 45yrs old but i have always been very warm person. I also suffer from lack of sleep as i can't get any as far back as 14yrs old!
Well nice to meet you guys & i hope you might have some answers for me!

Hi Andy, I'm wondering if you also have Thyroid problem, sleepless, hot, are you unable to tollerate heat and cold? needtemperature to be just right? Does your skin itch at times, is it dry, have you lost the outside edge of eyebrows or one eyebrow, mood swings, tearfull,hair thinning, breaking?may be worth you getting checked out,its a blood test you have.

Indian head massage, right, some use a lot of oil but mainly for massaging the shoulder and neck area, only a little on the therapist hands for scalp massage though, having said that if you go to an Indian they will use a lot of oil and yes it may be hot too. Find someone who uses a little oil and ask for itunheated , I only use a little oil just to make it easier to massage and i do not heat it.

I'm living in york now, but I used to live in Halifax. I was an auxiliary at the infirmary before I moved away, I can't believe what they have done to it!!!!!!!!

I'm kinda out of touch with this whole thing, I have done several aromatherapy courses, and am attuned to Reiki one but I never practise. Rather lost in this huge world really!

Nice to have fellow practicioners in the Halifax area.

With regards to meeting similar minded folk, we have a Reiki Share usually the first monday of the month in Rastrick. Nothing formal just a nice evening, learing from eachother, practicing, working on the odd visitor etc
