So, who is interested in meeting up some time in December for either lunch, dinner or just drinks and to chat about all things HP?

Any suggestions for dates, venues, activities?

-Darren

Hi Darren
I would be interested in meeting up, anywhere between Surrey and London,
somewhere easily reachable by public transport....

Thats great Daniela! 🙂

I thought maybe somewhere casual for drinks and dinner like HaHa or The Slug And Lettuce in Kingston? I have just discovered somewher new!! Its the very Kingston end of Teddington High Street and there again its casual and really nice.

It's the Oak Bar And Restaurant - you know how places can change over time, well at the moment its COOL! 🙂

Those are just some suggestions, but do mention any you may have in mind.

Candlelight 😀

Hi All
As a non driver my preference is for somewhere near a train station.
Anyone else out there wants to join in?
There must be many of us in Surrey...

Kingston is well-served by public transport. Lots of parking for those with cars, too.

We're toying with the idea of Harts... would be good to meet up; not seen you in ages!

So, what dates are you lot free? Shall we make this a Saturday evening?

I can't make 8th Dec.

A Saturday would be good, but we need to fix which one soon with Christmas coming up.

How about the 1st December? Harts is great location.

Well, unless anyone objects to Harts on 1st December, I can provisionally book. I need confirmation of numbers, first.

I'm away that weekend Darren........sorry we've just booked it. I'm booked out the next Sat/Sun as well.
Also isn't Harts a bit of a wander away from the railway station if anyone was going to come into Kingston on the train? It must be a good 10/15 minute walk, and a bit complicated for those not used to the area. Just a thought. It's nice there though, if you get a river view.
(Bit difficult to think about food at the moment as I'm watching von hagen dissect out a human femur!) Charter Quay is full of restaurants if you wanted somewhere nearer the station - or Freres Jacques is good (and very tolerant of long boozy sessions after dinner!)and easy to find too.

I can make Friday, 30th November if that helps at all. Are there any other dates in mind?

Candlelight 🙂

Would be fine for me, too. Anyone else?

Sorreeeeeee
I have to give up, it would actually take me over two hours to get home from Kingston. And in this weather public transport is very unreliable.

Ouch. 🙁

Update...

Right, because of the lack of response, we're just going to hold an informal Christmas coffee (and possibly a mince pie if they serve such things). Meet at Harts in Kingston on Friday 30th from 4pm... all welcome. Lots of parking for drivers. Can meet at Surbiton station for any who come by public transport.

Ok, this is tomorrow. Anyone else coming, or is poor Candlelight gonna have to endure me on her own?

Well, time really flew. Was a great conversation, even if there were just two of us!

I think we should do this once a month or so?

Glad to hear you enjoyed your meeting.
I shall be happy to come to Kingston later in the new year when the weather is better and I would not have such a dismal journey by train.
Otherwise is anyone willing to meet closer to London - Clapham Junction area would be good...London Victoria....?

Really interesting meet. Sorry not everyone could be there. I'm sure we can fix something that will be right for us all next time 🙂

Well, I wouldn't mind driving to somewhere closer to yourself. There must be a nice pub around there?

Hi there!

Yes, Clapham sounds do-able if ok with bbd also? Somehow we will find the right place and the right time for us all!

Candlelight 🙂 xx

I was thinking public transport, as a non-driver... hence my suggestions of London Clapham. It would also have the advantage that some London HPers might want to join in.
From a driver's point of view How about Croydon? It can be good for many because it is also on a mainline.
It we choose a date well in advance we can all plan our work round it and stick to it.
What do you think? And shall we rename it from Kingston Christmas meet?
🙂

Croydon sounds good from a physical location viewpoint but I am not sure you'd want to actually be there! Wimbledon is fairly nice and there is a nice restaurant up the hill.

Wimbledon would be a fab location if possible for everyone. There are so many places to eat/drink both up and down the hill. Croydon is a bit nightmarish for me to get to.

I would be up for Wimbledon if that's good for others?

There's a bar/restaurant that's about 15 mins walk up the hill that serves thai food. Can't remember the name (will have to ask a friend) but did enjoy the food.
