just wondering if anyone on here lives in or near aberdeenshire...i have always been drawn to live in scotland and since my astrological studies have begun picking up steam i have looked into relocation astrology and that area says it would be a great familly and creative, homely place to live which would be lovely!!myself and my baby Pearl live in brighton at the moment and its just quite far and expensive to get up there to have a good look and suss out the area we would like to live so i was wondering if anyone on here lives up that way and can tell more about nice areas etc!
would like to live somewhere semi-rural, peaceful,friendly..near a bus route to get to baby groups and shops etc!!
any info greatly appreciated!

Not thinking of going far then anna!!
Seriously try and google Aberdeenshire and see what it offers on sites.
Buy some wellies, overcoats, and some midge repellant.
We,re going to Dundee in June and I'm dreading the little buggers!

Hi Anna, Really looking forward to Dundee but it is a wedding we are going to so looking forward to that. If I remain sober (and I better had) I will try and remember what it looks like up there and put a post on. I know its not quite Aberdeenshire but hey.Tried to find a flight to Dundee but only seems to be some small outfit flies out of London City and costs the earth. Probably going by train from Kings X but takes six hours.
Good luck if you do make the move.
fyki. Windy. xx

Hi White Willow
I live in Perthshire which is near Aberdeenshire, about 50 miles from Aberdeen and 18 from Dundee.
There are so many little villages in Aberdeenshire you'd be better visiting if you could. Stonehaven is a great wee town - the picture is of Dunnottar Castle which is at Stonehaven. It also has an outside seawater swimmingpool (or it did last time we visited). Rural Scotland is a great place to bring up children however local services can be spartan so as long as you are happy living in the "seventies" you'll settle :Danywhere.
[link= http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyne ]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyne[/link]
Oyne is another favourite of ours as there is an Ironage visitors attraction where they stage re-enactments, interesting forthe childrento find out about the games children played then and how they livednot to mention the sword fights and roman soldiers.
On a more bizarre note- a local "intellectual" I know reckons the north east of scotland will be like the Med come global warming and everyone will flock there as it will be too hot elsewhere - so get your skates on!

Thanks windy!:)
Thanks for the wikipedia link Solas! Seemed a good way to check out the various places...;)
Hmmn as for living in the seventies...i am a bit worried i live in Brighton at the moment and here really anything goes its a pretty alternative place and differences are tolerated well..went up to wales last week though, to visit familly and i'd forgotten how many people stare if you look a bit different(i've got assymetrical hair with pink bits and piercings SHOCK-HORROR!!!:eek:)...the amount of people who looked at me as though i wasabout to rob them it was funny butexasperating![&:]but i know there are always open minded people to be found wherever the place and if scotlands the right place for us we can weather anything!!
that global warming predictions mad!
thanks v.much for the info[sm=grouphug.gif]
stonehaven does look amazing
kind blessings

RE: anyone on here live in aberdeenshire?
Hi White Willow,
I was born in Aberdeen and grew up in Aberdeenshire.
I used to live in Towie (40 miles west of Aberdeen), a really small village amidst farms and on the river Don. It was lovely and, as I grew up there, is my heartland. When my parents arrived there from England in the 80's there were very few other english people in the area, and I'm sad to say that they encountered a great deal of predjudice (there are still clans in Scotland - and they hated us!). However, the counryside was lovely and you could walk half a mile form my house and be out in the hills where you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.
There are 2 rivers where I lived - the Dee and the Don. Deeside is particularly beautiful and leads to Ballater, Braemar and Balmoral (where the queen herself goes on holiday!). Other places in deeside that are nice are Aboyne and Kincardine o neal. Donside is lovely too. If there are pictures of it on the web check out Kildrummy castle hotel - is is an incredible old Scottish baronial house hotel where the staff all wear kilts and you're waited on hand and foot (is where my sister got married).
My parents now live in Huntly which is North west of Aberdeen, on the way to Inverness. It is a nice wee town and there are some stunnig hills around there such as 'Tap o Noth', which has an ancient settlement on the top.
There are many highland shows, such as The Lonach Highland Games (I used to do highland dancing there). This is quite a famous games and Billy Connely, who has a house near Strathdon in Aberdeenshire, has been spotted there. As have Robin Williams and Euan McGregor.
There are distilleries - the one in Dufftown (also north west of Aberdeen) is good.
There are many castles. Fyvie and castle Fraser are two good examples.
There are good and bad bits of Stonehaven (I guess the same as any town), but its location is pretty stunning!
Places to avoid in Aberdeenshire: Alford, Inverurie, Peterhead, Lumsden, Rhynie, Turiff, Keith - there are more but can't think of them off the top of my head.
Melissa
Aberdeenshire has some of the best castles in the UK - beaten only by Wales IMHO (I love the Welsh castles too! proper fairytale jobs!) Been to all the ones Melissa mentioned and they are great.
Whats wrong with Alford and Inverurie though Melissa? :rolleyes: My aunt lives just near them...hehehe (theres nothing there basically!!) ...i learnt to ski in Alford as a kid believe it or not...hahaha smallest ski slope you ever seen :027:
As for midges - they're not too bad in Dundee, or anywhere on the East coast really...if you REALLY wanna see midges in action, head to the West coast...
:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
😀
