Hi guys,
I'm really rubbish trying to find things on the internet and was just wondering if anyone knows how to train as a tutor in complimentary therapies. I was told you need to be working in the industry at least 2 years but i can't find any other info. Any help is greatly appriciated 🙂

Hi Ophilia,
The big thing in Ireland at the moment is the FETAC Level 6 Train the Trainer course - this course is for general tutoring and facilitation and is recognised by all organisations including FAS. I'm not sure if there's a special requirement for tutoring complementary therapies. A lot of the compl. thers tutors in Cork are likely with the VEC.
What subject are you hoping to teach?

HI Ophilia, star_dust is right about the fetac course, details are here click the link 5th from the bottom.

my sister and cousin both did this course....there is going to be some register coming out (or it may even be here now?) that you have to be on to teach fetac courses or get fetac fees - sorry little sketchy on the details...

I am in an Adult Education school doing ITEC but we have to do the fetac courses aswell in order for the school to qualify for funding (or something to that effect) so if you were going down that avenue you would be better off doing the fetac course...

or have a look at this link

or this [DLMURL] http://www.portobelloinstitute.ie/pagecarrier.aspx?pageid=149 [/DLMURL]

hope this helps x

hi there,
thanks for the help guys, I tried the fetac site but it was down so i emailed them. I don't know if I like the itec teacher training course, can't understand how you can be qualified to teach without sitting an exam, especially for €3000. My other half is a teacher and he really had to bust himself to do it.
I'd like to do a&p and aromatherapy and reflexology.

I was told the fetac aromatherapy course is really bad that they only make you study 2 oils. I did mine with CIBTAC and had to do 40, which is pretty much the same as ITEC isn't it. I couldn't imagine sending people out with just a knowledge of 2 oils weird.

thanks again xxx

Ophilia,
FETAC levels range from 1 up to 10 so there could be a few different aromatherapy modules on it. A level 3 would be equivalent to Junior Cert and wouldn't be as comprehensive as a level 6 which would be post-leaving cert. It's all relative. The important thing is to do a lot of research and inquiries before handing over your hard earned cash!

Hi Ophilia,
Walmer Holistic Centre in Dublin run a tutor training course by ITEC.
If you go to , there should be plenty of details there.
There's a free talk about the tutor course on 30th March.
I work as a massage therapist at Walmer, absolutely love the place!
Best of luck,
Gillian

How about visiting Massage Courses Dublin | Fitness Courses Dublin | Personal Training Courses | Massage Courses | Osteopathy | Pilates Courses Ireland I'm sure you'll find there something of interest - they do a good range of massage courses, pilates, even osteopathy training for future instructors.
