I want to do the ITEC holistic massage. I am trying to decide if taking it in Watford in Herts College or Harrow College. Any thoughts?
There is also a private school in Rickmansworth the Middlesex School, I think it's called. I couldn't afford to do it there as the prices look very high, but would it be better to take the course there?

RE: GOOD ITEC COURSES

Hi Tortu,

I studied at the Middlesex School and I found them to be very supportive, very helpful - and I got good results!I have also head good things about Harrow College but can't speak from experience just comments I heard on my course. I'm currently studying Aromatherapy with Essentials for Health and if the trip into London isn't too much I'd highly recommend them too!

Best of luck!

RE: GOOD ITEC COURSES

Thanks Bushbaby. I considered the Middlesex school it looks very profesional but it's more the cost side of the course which is holding me.
I will see how I get on with the Holistic Massage and then if it all goes well I may go on to do the aromatherapy or reflexiology. Are you doing it also at the Middlesex School?

RE: GOOD ITEC COURSES

No I'm at Essentials for Health and they have their practice rooms near Waterloo station. I didn't want to do my Aromatherapy under Itec and also I found that travelling to the Middlesex school from Wimbledon a bit much after a while! I'll be doing Reflexology next year (fingers crossed!) so I may go back to Middlesex then - I'll see where I stand by then.

Have you done your anatomy and physiology bit yet?

Not yet, this course includes the Physiology and the massage, so it's going to be pretty hard.

RE: GOOD ITEC COURSES

Hi totu
I can thoroughly recommend Stanmore college holistic a&p massage. Gail Lewell is the tutor and she is fantastic, but do not think you will be in for an easy ride, she made us work hard setting homework weekly which you were a fool not to do as the homework enabled you to answer the test questions that she set weekly. It was exhausting and sometimes we all felt like jacking it in but if i could pass with a credit, then anyone can.
good luck finding a suitable course!

just goes to show doesnt it - I did my ITEC Holistic Massage course at Cassio a few years ago and was not that impressed - I still feel my A & P is lacking
I think it really depends on the tutor

I went on to do my ITEC Aromatherapy at MSCM when they were in Stanmore and thoroughly enjoyed the course - I regularly do CDP courses now that they are in Rickmansworth which is just as near for me as Stanmore

although MSCM is a LOT more expensive than going to a subsidised FE course the back up was far superior - at Cassio I rarely could get a reply to emails from my Tutor where as even now I can contact my Aromatherapy tutor if I get really stuck for advice - he is a very generous person and the staff in the office are all trained therapists and will help if they can or relay a message
