hi there moongoddess

I agree with you totally i have just moved back to cornwall well right on the devon border after having been away for a year, and it is so good to be back in the country and paece. I am also quite new to the site. Having been interested in complementary therapies for several years i have now decided to do something about it and having had a taster am now wanting to find everything i can about everything, mmm does that make sense so anyone out there in devon or cornwall let us know if your doing workshops etc

A new devonian!

Hello moongoddess, hello littleone

I'm new here, have been looking at the site for a little while, but just got the hang of joining up; creating user name and finding an avatar...not everso computer literate!

I practise massage and reiki, and after treating family and friends for a few years decided to go fulltime with it a few months ago. It's been really liberating after ten years teaching in secondary schools!

I'm hoping to learn lots from the forums here. Lovely to meet you.

Hello om-shanti

Welcome to Healthypages and the Devon forum. I hope you enjoy finding your way around some of the other forums as well, and look forward to reading more posts from you.

I'm not actually a Devonian, but not a million miles away either ... just a few miles up the A303 from the county boundary, in South Somerset.

A warm welcome to littleone as well, and thanks to moongoddess for starting the thread. 🙂

Hello om-shanti 🙂 Lovely to meet you! Welcome to this wonderful forum, full of interesting information and great friendly people.

I am sure you will enjoy making your way around and will soon be addicted to this site as we all are!

What part of Devon are you from? I am in the Torbay area! It's great to have another person on here - this forum is a little quiet, but hopefully we can soon get this place buzzing!!

Good luck with your full time venture, let us know how you are getting along.

Can I pop in and say welcome as I live only 5 miles from the Devon border but am classed as Somerset lol!? I'm in Wellington to be precise and I ventured into Exeter for the first time yesterday and had a lovely time going around the shops with my teenage daughter.

P.S

Hi Moongodess, I saw your Mum today at work!

Love and light

Hello Claire - I thought it was you!

Things are ok with me. Still working full time (Yuk) I am going to give up the shop in the New Year as the location of it is wrong. At least I will get my weekends back then! I am running a spiritual awareness course starting at the end of this month which will be good, I am looking forward to it, so that will be something new to focus on.

I haven't done much Reiki at all since qualifying, other than on friends that is. I just don't seem to be able to focus on that at the moment.

So, you are building your business up then. That is good. Last time we spoke you were sharing advertising with another person, is that still happening and how did you find it?

Anyway good to have you back onboard. Keep in touch via email as before if you like, be good to hear about your business! We can swap notes!

Hello All:)

I'm in Plymouth, but my husband (a retired farmer) is aching to get back to Cornwall. We spend most of our time over the water anyway, so it would make sense.

I like it in Plymouth but I do miss the country though the narrow roads are becoming so dangerous with outsiders coming here to live and thinking (erroneously) that they need large gas guzzlers to drive around in and then speed around with disregard for others! Thats my moan for the day. I feel better now!

I have joined this forum again recently as, for some inexplicable reason, I couldn't get in with my old details.

Glad to meet all you locals from this wonderful part of the country.

Maggie

Custard apples and other things

Hello everyone,

I can't think of anything super interesting to post on here so thought I'd go for something random instead. Today I came across 'custard apples' at work - I've never heard of them before and wondered if anyone has tried them before and if they're recommended??

Hi littleone, glad you askd coz i was hoping to find out more about everyone here too...

I'll go first then (unless someone pips me to the post whilst I'm typing!)

I am in the early stages of setting up my own practice from home. I do massage and Reiki; I qualified with ITEC a couple of years ago, and I started my journey with Reiki in 2001, qualifying as Reik Master Teacher this year. I was a secondary school teacher before for ten years but I stopped enjoying it;I don't do stress well 😮 and it didn't allow me the time or space to be who I needed to be :hippy: Im also just about to start organsing reiki shares in Torquay... there's lots going on in Totnes but nothing here in the 'bay, so I hope they go down well.

I'm enjoying my new life lots!

So what are you up to?

hi Om Shanti
firstly good luck with starting up on your own it must be very daunting but i'm sure you will do really well.
Its so good to hear what other people are doing i cannot wait to get out there and get started but am terrified at the same time.
I started a reflexology by correspondence in march this year having taken 6 years to find the time and guts to do it, well that is now well on its way and i'm really enjoying it. In sept I started doing holistic massage in Plymouth and Indian head massage at Saltash college, the massage is ok but i do feel that it is very directed at people who want to go into a beauty salon which is not me at all, the IHM is brilliant so relaxing i don't feel as if it's college at all.
well thats me just starting out really an desperate for info i always have my head in a book or here on HP wanting to learn lots.
hope to hear more from you all soon
love Kathryn x

Hello Snagglepuss 🙂 how are you?

I can see why you miss the seaside - I certainly wouldn't want to be too far from it myself now either. But equally I am sure Yorkshire must be lovely too tell me more about it!

Good to hear from you again by the way! 😉

Hello Moongoddess, yes and as I am a pisces I miss it all that more. I always feel so regenerated when walking on a beach or looking at the waves from a clifftop!!!. I have to say, Yorkshire is very beautiful and the Yorkshire moors remind me a lot of Dartmoor. The people are soooo friendly 🙂 even total strangers will strike up a converation with you. Bakewell is a gorgeous little village with a river running through it with the most ducks and geese I have ever seen in one place, and Matlock has a lovely little museum, lots of history to it. I am beginning to settle quite nicely now, but oh how I long to see the sea lol. :012:

Hi Snagglepuss,
Ahhh... Matlock and Bakewell.... I remember them well! I used to live in Belper and loved taking the TransPeak bus to those places. They are beautiful aren't they? A great book shop in Bakewell I remember; and I made some great friends up there. What about taking a trip out to somewere watery. I know you're landlocked up there, but there's a huge lake somewhere I went to a couple of times which was the closest I got to feeling like I was by the sea... Im guessing it was In Derbyshire but can't remember exactly where... any ideas?
I'll try and find out for you!

Sending you hugs from the sea
