After work we had a couple of hours late night shopping in Chester. There was a parade through the town centre, it was only a small one but what an impact they made with their music. The drums were deafening but brilliant. Not sure what type of music you would call it but it made me all of a quiver. Weird costumes too, but great to watch. Have attached a couple of photos but they're not very good as they were just taken from the phone camera.
Spot the skeleton!
Sounds like ' The Winter Watch'......St Lucy's Eve was part of a Yule celebration.........traditionally crowns of candles were worn by the girls, perhaps symbolic of the passage of the winter sun.
Here's a link to the 'Summer Watch ' celebration....
was it a similar sound ?....
thanks for posting the photo's Treacs......don't forget the Saturnalia Parade on 18th ....sounds like fun.

Yes Oakey, it was very similar to the Midsummer watch parade, though that music does not do it justice. Listen to the music but imagine those main drums loud and deep and right next to you - it was great! Last night it was The Gang Show in the parade who do things with the Scouts.
Crabbie;s school have a Samba band and one of my apprentices belonged to it....absolutely fantastic sound!!...it's especially good when you have dancers and a carnival atmoshere..
:dance::dance:......makes you want to join in and ..dance yourself. 🙂
