The betwixt and between time
There is always that moment, the betwixt and between time,
Between dusk and nightfall, between dawn and the break of day,
Between thought and the spoken word, between a like and a love,
Between uncertainty and knowing, between curiosity and patience,
Between touch and feeling, between the inbreath and the outbreath,
Between the closing and the opening of our eyes,
Between the tick and the tock,
Between the flame and the heat, between passion and the release,
The betwixt and between time,
Where we can pause, acknowledge our truth, be.
In these moments of time, stood still, that is where you will find me.
RE: The betwixt and between time
Very lovely - is it original?
Sharon.
RE: The betwixt and between time
Thank you Sharon, yes it is - it was inspired by the line "The betwixt and between time" read in a wonderful book called The Shamanic Way of the Bee" - by Simon Luxton, best read for one very long time.

RE: The betwixt and between time
Wonderful and deep....
RE: The betwixt and between time
Congratulations then - I think it's a great poem. Perhaps you should get it published. Have you any more?
Sharon
RE: The betwixt and between time
yes I have some more - have not really thought about publishing them, is there a spiritual poetry publisher?

RE: The betwixt and between time
The thing is though that this is really good - make sure that you don't end up with some Vanity Publishing outfit. I wouldn't restrict yourself to "spiritual" publishers - this is mainstream, human stuff that would appeal to anyone who has a soul that they are half aware of, it issimply very good poetry. I see an idea about stillness in it that is there in Robert Frost, Auden, Emily Dickinson. It's memorable. I've printed it out.
I'd do a bit of web-searching -perhaps look for mainstream competitions?

RE: The betwixt and between time
It's really beautiful...............
This poem has haunted me. When I wrote my own poem, below, I had it in my bones, if not to hand. Someone I know has also written one with the same title - that led me to do a search in HP and up it came. ReikiJules, if you are out there still, thank you very much for your gift of your poem.

In memory of our little Grandson who didn’t make it to full-term, and his life. He’s always on my mind. One in 200 or so pregnancies end like this, mid term…….those babies have grandparents and brothers and sisters as well as fathers and the women who bear the full brunt of it all, the mothers. This affected us very deeply.
Here’s a pome, what I wrote.
Betwixt and Between
There’s a space in between the tick
And the tock of the bedside clock.
Listen.
In that space Life’s mysteries knock
Tick tock tick tock
Tick
Roman
Tock.
Now listen to that silent space where lies heartbreak.
Tick tock tick tock
Thy heart beats not.
Tick
Tock.
Betwixt and between the beat of the clock
Is a drum’s off-beat of Danger.
Conception and death. Sweet-bitter caress.
Tick tock tick tock
Tick .
Hopes crushed.
Tock .
Life changed.
Between the tick and the tock of the grandfather clock,
There are slides and ellipses of time,
And lost in that gap
Is our baby’s stopped heart,
The grandchild that should have been mine.
Tick tock tick tock.
Tick tock tick tock.
