Hello, My friend has a Rottweiler with hip dysplisha. Someone has stolen her dog. She has posted signs up EVERYWHERE . She is now going to put a reward for the return of her dog. But she doesn't have much money. She has rescued this dog from a shelter. If she gets the dog back and it was stolen, is there a way she can press charges? PLEASE if you have any suggestions on anything else she can dog let me know, her dog is missed. 🙁 Thank you
Kandy
RE: Stolen Dog!!
This is only a suggestion, but maybe she could go to her local paper and ask them to do a small piece on it. She could mention the hip dysplisha (and maybe play it up a little) and say that there is a reward. Maybe whoever took the dog would think twice if he/she new there was a problem with it. I'm sure they wouldn't be best pleased if they thought the dog was going to cost them money to look after? [&:]
RE: Stolen Dog!!
Good advice Tootles.
Has your friend spoken to the police and all of the local vets offices in your area and left her details? Also all the sanctuaries in the area. The RSPCA have a database of 'found' pets also so it might be worth giving them a call. May I ask which area you are in? There are a few local charities around the country that also help re-unite pets and owners that might be able to help. Definately play on the hip dysplisha.
With regards to charges, it is very difficult to actually prove that a specific person took your friends dog. Without an eyewitness or some kind of cctv footage proving that it was Mr 'A' at 3:00pm from the garden I'm afraid not much can be done.
I hope your friends dog returns very soon
xx
RE: Stolen Dog!!
Thanks a bunch. All of that was GREAT advice. I will tell her all of this. Also with the newspaper ad, i told her that she can tell the editor to also do a thing on hip dysplisha. What causes it ext.
WE are in teh Nashville area of Tennessee. I know what you mean about the charges. I asked her if the dog was micro chipped since it was from a ashelter, she said the dog is not. 🙁 nThanks agian for all the help :

RE: Stolen Dog!!
Hi Kandy,
Welcome from across th pig pond then!
I'm afraid I'm not to hot on US animal protection societies but I would suggest the ASPCA and the local police department (they have animal wardens dont they?)
Also I've found this:
Help people find their pets in the Nashville area
Still hoping for a safe return.
RE: Stolen Dog!!
Hey
They are having a online chat with an officer from the ASPCA here soon. So i will try to ask her if she has anysuggestions.
The nashville petfinders is where we met. lol, i found a dog and posted it there and she lost her rottie, and she e-mailed me to see if the dog i found was hers, but, me having rotties, i felt bad for her and so i have tried to help her find her dog. small world.
Thank yall for all the help. I think she is going to try to put an artical in the paper.
Thank you
