hi there greetings to everyone and happy new year.
I have been given a corn snake as a gift and i have got a info on everything else but how to hold and handle her correctly.
any pointers please.
My neighbour has one - it is about 4 years old now. They don't handle it too much, and when they do, they are meticulous about hand-sanitising both before handling and after. They also don't play 'pass the parcel' with it by letting everyone have a go - just my neighbour and her 18 year old daughter who was given it for her 15th birthday.
Have you googled the breed and how to handle it?
Lots of info on wikipedia about feeding etc
but not too much about handling. I think they are beautiful snakes and you're very lucky. Are you going to be feeding it on dead mice? Just a thought for Jabba: why all the to do about hand sanitising? Is this because snakes are particularly germy or to protect the snake from the handler's germs?
Both, apparantly - their skin can carry salmonella and they are also vulnerable to contaminants from our skin.
Hi
I work with snakes what i do is open the viv a bit and put my hand out above the snake flat so that they can see you are not a threat to them and mean them no harm then slowly move my hand down towards them still flat and gently get hols of them not to far down from there head,
also when holding snakes if you keep still whilst holding them and dont move your hands about too much they also calm down and dont wriggle to much,
just dont put your hands in front of there face they might think your food
Corn snakes are gorgeous snakes and love to be handled if done right xx
