My friends and I have a Rainbow Bridge book that we put pictures in of animals that have crossed over and I find it a great comfort. If no-one minds I would like to start a Rainbow Bridge thread on here so we can all remember our beloved pets.
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigour; and those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special who was left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. Her bright eyes are intent; her eager body begins to quiver. Suddently she breaks from the group, flying over the green grass faster and faster. You have been spotted and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands caress her beloved head and you look one more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart. then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together..............

Wow Doogle, them's powerful words and they've brought tears to my eyes.
I send all my love to my beloved dog, Bagley - I miss you sooooooo much Baggie, I'll never stop hurting about the way you were taken from me so early.
And also to April - you beautiful girl - we still miss you're 'talking'. Sometimes I see you flitting about the house. Visit whenever you want to, and bring Baggie with you.
RE: Rainbow Bridge
Do you all think that our beloved pets go to heaven ? I was told by a Jehovah witness that as much as we want to think that they do they dont that pets have no souls and there fore do not go to heaven ...I disagree how about you?
bfine
RE: Rainbow Bridge
Hello befine, Im afraid I have to disagree with that belief about animal having no soul. They our welcome to the heavens as well as humans, and their little spirits come back to see us from time to time, and when we pass over they will be waiting to greet us, if we so choose.
Ive seen the spirit of my dog, that passed many a time, I just send vibrations of love to him.

RE: Rainbow Bridge
Anyone who has ever looked into the eyes of one of those beloved friends knows the answer to this one. If animals have no soul, then neither do I. Everything on this Earth has a soul, and Christ Spark whether it be animal, human, vegetable or mineral. It cannot be any other way if you look at it logically, for if it was all created from God, then it must all carry his essence.

RE: Rainbow Bridge
They sure do have souls, don't they? I'm adding my lovely furry friends Millie (passed away in May) and Gemma (my partner's mum's collie, passed away in the wee small hours of this morning). God bless all the animals who enrich our lives.
RE: Rainbow Bridge
We lost our bullmastiff Coco in July this year. I mentioned it on here some time ago but recently posted "Buddy" our new 5 year old bullmastiff. Here's for Coco's memory, this is poem I wrote at the time. The links at the bottom, you'll see a picture of her.
FOR COCO [sm=mecry.gif][sm=FIFangel.gif]
Our loyal friend whose now departed
And left us all so broken-hearted
Gone to a place far up above
Blessed with our eternal love
Our faithful friend who gave so much
Who always looked so big and butch
Not many people dare cross her path
Woe betide they caught her wrath
Very strong in body and mind
Such a big dog that took her time
In moving ‘bout from place to place
Life was certainly not a race
No more barking at those outside
Standing bold and full of pride
Especially at the noisy bin men
And anyone else who came within them
Bullmastiffs are a kind of breed
That guard and protect, yes indeed
But underneath that huge physique
A gentle touch, so mild and meek
Big sad eyes that said it all
Except for when given a ball!
How she loved to play and roam
And slobber all around the home!
In our hearts and in our minds
That’s where she’ll always be
No wagging tail or lolling tongue
Just pictures and our memories
So here we say our final parting
With our most loyal friend who’s sadly departed 🙁

RE: Rainbow Bridge
I printed off the rainbow bridge poem it is so moving. I have 2 elderly dogs and three old cats. They are my great freinds and have seen me through some very tough times. I have been at the edge of despair and I have looked into my dogs eyes to see deep pools of compasion and care and been cuddles from both cats and dogs as if to say it is ok. When it is thier time to leave me I know it will be very hard and the poem just says so much.
My husband who had to accept all my brood when he met me realised that animals are a part of my life and this year aquired a puppy to give continuation he is learning all the good and bad of my tow faithful freinds.
Yes animals have souls and I often see animal spirits I find it very conforting.:D

RE: Rainbow Bridge
I was lucky to have grown up with animals. I was determined that my children would too.
There are sooo many ............too many to name, mostly which have died peacefully at very old ages. I would like to mention my doberman Hayley who sadly died at 13 and my lovely Siamese blue, Merlin who died on 5th July 2001 aged only six. His companion, Topper my English Pointer passed away last summer. They adored each other and loved to play. They are buried beside each other and I like to think of them playing together still.
Love to you all

This is for a cat named Darwin I read about in the newspaper. He was beaten to death by his owner's boyfriend for nipping him on the thumb. The story is horrible, and I was deeply disturbed by it. I send love and peace to this sweet kitty.
Intrestingly, Darwin was the exact color and breed of cat as Tiffany, my cat whom this post is also for.
Tiffany, my girl, I love you. You were a mystery. Thank you for all you gave me and my family. I remember you napping in the sun. I wish you all the naps in the sun your heart desires.
Love,
Elizabeth

Spiriteagle had to say goodbye to his old friend Cody today...she had a tumor in her spleen and two in her liver...
As part of the family she will be missed greatly, but in our hearts I know she will always be with us...but with Simon the most, he cherished her...
Cody, my friend...be happy at Rainbow Bridge...I am sure Sunny (my dog) was there waiting to greet you like an old friend...and so would Pepper have been...you are at peace and shall always be alive in our hearts.
luv & peace

RE: Rainbow Bridge
THE RESCUE RAINBOW BRIDGE
Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But the animals that had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch.
It wasn't long before an elderly cat came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward The Bridge, he watched all of the other animals watching him.
He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he could cross over, the happier he would be. But, alas, as he approached The Bridge, his way was barred by the appearance of an Angel who apologized, but told him that he would not be able to pass. Only those who were with their people could pass over Rainbow Bridge.
With no place else to turn to, the elderly cat turned towards the fields before The Bridge and saw a group of other cats like him, also elderly and infirm. They weren't playing, but rather simply lying on the green grass, forlornly staring out at the pathway leading to The Bridge. And so, he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.
One of the newest arrivals at The Bridge didn't understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for a while to explain it to him. You see, that poor animal was a rescue. He was turned in to rescue just as you see him now, an older cat with his fur graying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across The Bridge.
The first cat thought about this for a minute and then asked, "So what will happen now?"
As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching The Bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, a whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of life.
"Watch, and see" said the second feline. A second group of animals from those waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. At each bowed head, the person offered a pat on the head or! a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell into line and followed him towards The Bridge. They all crossed The Bridge together.
"What happened?"
"That was a rescuer." The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of his work. They will cross when their new families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one, final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort all those poor animals that they couldn't place on earth, cross The Rainbow Bridge.
"I think I like rescuers," said the first animal.
"So does God," was the reply.
