Hi - Harry my poor Lab/staffie cross slipped in the garden last week and the vet thinks he has a prolapse disc and calcium around some of the discs.
He is dragging his back leg and didn't have any feeling in it at all on Thursday. However he has a little bit of feeling in it today and not dragging it as much.He doesn't seem to be bending his knee and his paw bends under him and he doesn't always correct it. He can put weight on it when he stands but isn't using it to walk. He doesn't seem to be in any discomfort (apart from when he did it -the scream was awful)

The vet says it could take a while to recover although he might not fully recover and to be careful that the leg doesn't stiffen up as he isn't using it.

He is on anti inflammatory steriods and I have been giving him reiki and (dry) massage. We have to take him back in two weeks and he may have to have some more tests.

I wondered what people's thought about using some essential oils when I massage him -
:dogrun:
1. - to try and keep him quiet - he keeping forgetting he only has three working legs and ends up falling over
2.- keep the leg from stiffening up
3. -help with the prolapse disc
4.-help with the calcium buildup

Thanks
Westie
