[sm=cat.gif]Can any one help me?

Storm my male cat is about 5 years old. Even though he is a confident roamer he will always come home when you call him. Last week he went missing, fortunatley we found him but he hasn't been the same since. There are no obvious signs of pyshical injury but he seems to be really stressed out. When ever you touch hime he frantically licks himself. We've checked his skin but no sinces of irritation. We took him to the vets last week to check him out, just in case we missed any thing, he had a high tempreture 105'.The usual thing........... antibiotics prescribe but the vet was as stumped as us. We brought him home and a very confident and brave cat has turned into a jibbering wreck living on top of the wardrobe. 1 week later and still worried about my poor feline furry friend I took him back to the vet..........he still has a high tempreture. I asked the vet to take a blood sample and will the results in afew days. He is eating wet and dried food (not as much as normal) , drinking OK and using the litter tray..... during the last week he has ventured down from the wardrobe and sleeps in the bathroom sink and now also the bath.He is also doing a really odd thing and eating his litter (fullers earth).

I have shared my life with cats for over 30 years and never encountered anything like this before. Something awful has obviously happened to the poor little chap. He doesn't seem to be responding to the healing me and my partner have been giving him. I have also given him a few drops of rescue remedy and waiting to see how the works.

Any ideas or advice would be gratfully accepted........... I miss my Brave Storm

Thanks for that I was worried that he may be able to smell it in the water and then stop drinking.

well, how about a few drops in a cup of water, then put a few drops of that diluted rr into his water bowl?

I have used rr on rescue dogs with good results

You can also just put 3 to 4 drops on the back of the animals neck a 2-3 times a day for a week initially. I believe it will have effect quicker than placing the drops in the water.

Hi, does his skin look normal colour for him, or is it slightly / a lot red, i'm thinking "prickly heat" there is definate feeling of hot hot hot as i tune into him, my feeling is it's an allergy, ask the vet for antihistimine for him, Think of how you would feel if you became allergic to something, irritable, itchy, wanting to keep out of the way, cold porcelaine is the only comfort you can get so you'd go sit on it or lay on it,anything to cool down. I'm just off to check something out . i'll be back. Lyn

Contact Allergies: Cats can have allergic reactions to items that they come in contact with. The most common form of contact allergies in cats is due to exposure to certain plants. These often include plants that have oily leaves such as rubber plants. Other forms for contact allergies in cats can include carpet cleaners or fresheners, wool, dust in the home, newsprint, house cleaners, carpet and even cat litter. Usually a cat that suffers from contact allergies will experience itching and discomfort on the skin. There could be skin eruptions, such as hives or bumps on the skin or dermatitis. In some cases, the fur could fall out causing dry, itchy patches on the cat’s skin. Usually, contact allergies that cause problem are more noticeable on the chin, ears, inner thighs, abdomen, and underneath the tail. If you suspect that your cat is experiencing contact allergies, the first step is to take your cat to the vet to determine the cause and course of treatment. The vet will usually recommend a skin patch test to determine the cause and prescribe a topical solution to help the itching. Sometimes, a steroid shot can be given if the case is extreme.

I'm also wondering if puss has had hot water thrown at him, in which case check his skin really well, if he has been scalded / burned the signs may not yet be apparent so keep an eye on him, if burnt watch for hair loss ( it won't necessarily be singed) and black skin, red to start with, poor little fellow, he gives me the feeling that he won't be the same as he was for a long while, be kind, be patient, and he says "please don't touch me for a bit, i'll come to you". If you would like healing sent his way please give me his name. Lyn

Oh my goodness, I just remembered something my friend in Canada had with her cat, he ate a tiny bit of lily, which are highly poisonous to cats. I have found a site for you to check out poisonous plants, if he has eaten lily even a possibily he must go back to vets NOW,

Rosi and Lyn thanks for your replies......................... I will try the RR on the back of the neck. I have checked his skin and he does have a few itchy marks on his neck and ears....... he still has a very high tempreture and even got in the shower with me this morning .................. bless him....... By the way his name is Storm and any healing Lyn would be gratfully accepted. We have been trying my partner having a better result than me. I have just had the results to the blood test and his white blood cell count is very low...............so I am thinking there is more going on here than skin irritation, the vet has ask me to bring him for a lukemia and HIV test Sunday. I hope it is nothing that serious he's only 5/6 years old and just the thought of it makes myheart ache.Lyn you are quite right that he doesn't want any company at the moment ............hard though I find it while he is so poorly I am trying to give him his space. Mind you when I did pop my head round the bathroom door earlier he gave me the Cat Blink Kiss[sm=angel-smiley-027.gif]and I even got a purr when I gave him some water.

Thanks for all your kind replies................you don't know how much it means to know there are such caring people out there in a time of stress and worry. I will keep you posted.[sm=wave.gif]

Hi Just to let you know our update on Storm's Blood results..............Bad news FIV...............We are still trying to get his tempreture down and he is loosing interest in his food due to the high tempreture................he is still living in the bathroom sink, must be nice and cool for him in there. ?Good news he is still cleaning him self and enjoys a stroke......... last night he even ventured on the bed for a while I think he si feeling a little lonely.

If anyone could recomend a good homeopathic vet in the Norwich area it would be a great help.........as this is my next line of healing help for the poor little chap..... I have read that brewers yeast and buffed vitimin C is supposed to help the immune system...........has anyone had any results with this?

After the initial shock, I have read that FIV cats can live to a ripe old age............we will just need to keep an eye on him.

Thanks for all your thoughts and helpful information

Sally

RE: Poorly Cat Needs Help Please

Overview
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) causes an infectious disease in domestic cats and cheetahs similar to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV infection) in humans. It attacks and weakens the body's immune system, making the animal susceptible to infections and diseases that don't affect healthy cats. There is neither a cure nor a vaccine for FIV. Though eventually fatal, an FIV-positive cat can live for many years without any signs of illness. FIV is a lentivirus, a virus that causes slowly developing disease.

Hi Sally, I would be interested in treating your cat with flower and gem essences, as I am sure that the immune system can be strengthened and any damage already caused by the virus put right. Damage done to the immune system due to viruses, can be reversed. Generally what happens is that the immune system starts to behave differently, but you can use the essences to communicate with the immune system and get it to stop attacking itself. (I have had experience doing this). Another thing the essences do is work on the energy field and energy centres of the body, and re-balance any weaknesses/tears/holes that may be present, especially as the virus has potentially weakened some of the chakras.
I don't know how long the treatment would last, possibly months to reverse everything, but do pm me if you are interested.

Try some remedies - Rosi has helped me to treat my cat recently, they'll just give Storm that little extra help.
