I must tell you all whats been happening the past week. I joined a site for rabbits just so i'd have people to talk to with rabbit problems. Then about a couple of months ago, a woman contacted me saying that 1 of my rabbits looked like 1 of hers. She emailed me some photos which showed several rabbits, which were all lovely. Anyway with 1 thing or another i didn't get back to her, but kept meaning to. Then a week ago i got an email from her husband saying that he'd found me on his wifes contacts and wandered if i could help him as he was desperate.
He's in norway, where he lives with his wife, who i think comes from australia. She is in australia now at uni and he is supposed to be joining her soon to live. But they need to find good homes for their rabbits.
He's looked around in norway but found nothing suitable. Then they meet a woman on the net who wanted the 2 rabbits and seemed really nice. He told me that they checked her out and was completely satisfied that they were going to a good home.
They arranged for the rabbits to be taken to the uk with an animal courier but when they got to the uk, the woman just changed her mind so the rabbits have been stuck there til now.
I explained i already had 5 rabbits and was on benefit and so could no way have them; but i really wanted them, i could imagine how they felt.
The animal couriers is in kent, so i looked on the net for a sanctuary close to there. I found 1 and sent the address to him. Apparently they wasnt very helpful, and suggested to him that he find them a home themselves because they were house rabbits?! I told him to email them again saying that it would be difficult for him as hes in norway. Anyway i found a sancutary in birmingham, which is by me and a lovely woman emailed back saying that they would take them, and would re home them together as they are inseperable. She also said that if it would be easier, she would get into contact with the couriers to arrange transportation.
I emailed her saying how grateful i was and that i would forward her email to him.
Hes over the moon and is now working things out with the woman directly. I just hate not being able to have them myself. The whole thing made me so anxious and upset. I'm praying they get to the sanctuary soon, he said he would let me know.
I told him that once they are at the sanctuary, it could ask if whoever has them, could be told of their story, and maybe could let the nice couple kn ow how the rabbits are getting on.
Oh how sad but how lovely you have done your bit & been able to help these rabbits - well done you :045:
Lets hope they manage to get everything sorted for them in a lovely new home.
Ps-I don't know what rabbit forum you joined but I highly recommend 'Rabbits United Forum' (type into Google & it'll come up) for friendly advice & support.
Thanks Sonnet,
Just emailed to ask if theyr at the sanctuary yet. Hopefully they should be by now.
The site is called Binkiebunnies, its a lovely site. I'll defo look at the one youve suggested; it sounds good.
Just wanted to tell what has happened since my last post. Things didn't go as well as i hoped. The woman, Chloe from the rabbit sanctuary was in contact with the animal couriers, and apparently it was all arranged for the 2 rabbits, conigilo and usagi to be taken to the sanctuary. Frode had paid for this but when he contacted the couriers on the arranged day, he was told that they had been dropped off at the nearest R.S.P.C.A. Frode and Allison (owners) emailed and phoned, obviously upset, managed eventually to get them to the sanctuary.
They are now on the 'FatFluffs' website for aboption, and are to be rehomed as a pair. You can see how happy they look now despite what they've been through, and the place looks lovely.
I had to email Chloe thanking her for all her help.
