Pink dolphins live in the amazon river. They're very rare and considered very special by the natives.

But this one is just amazing!!!!!!

I saw a pink dolphin in a ocean park in Singapore. We walked into the water and stroked its back. It was lovely and it got a fish for each visitor.

I've been blessed to have seen pink dolphins (bufeo colorado) several times on my trips to the Amazon, and I can honestly say they never loose their appeal. From memory, I think it is still unclear exactly what gives them their pink colour. One theory related to me is that they obtain the pigment from feeding on certain pink-coloured fish, which would make sense.
What is really interesting though, are the myths surrounding these creatures held by the indigenous populations who live in Amazonia.
I was told that, among the mestizo population in Peru, pink dolphins are often viewed as powerful shaman. They can disguise themselves as human, and sometimes suduce people in order to drag them off to their underwater world. The pink dolphins are said to have great sexual prowess, and often mate with humans. Sometimes, when a girl becomes pregnant, it is said that she became impregnated by a dolphin 🙂
Parts of the pink dolphin's anatomy are also said to have particular magical powers. Some shaman use a dolphin's penis to cause harm to others, whilst the dolphin's labia are sometimes made into a protective bracelet.
So, if you are ever lucky enough to see a pink dolphin up close, mind you don't fall out of the boat lest you fall pregnant or father a baby by it!
