if you have any quirky pets, please feel free to share! 🙂

Whenever i grace my daughter's hamster's presence wearing my 'jamas and dressing gown when she's at large in the bedroom for her nightly run around, she ( the hamster, not the daughter!) will climb up my jama legs which can be torture at times as her claws are like needles. When she reaches my hips, I sit down on the bed where she will then proceed to go into my dressing gown and have a whale of a time burrowing around. She'll go from one side of my waist to the other, up my ribs then down the dressing gown sleeves and sometimes pop out from the back of my neck. She'll climb up and down my back too, and if I turf her out, she instantly comes back for more. It's strange, because she is a timid hamster by nature but once inside that dressing gown she's a totally different character! One evening, i had a cardi on instead of a dressing gown and the hamster was not amused-i had to wear my daughter's which is three sizes too small...

Sometimes, i put treats in my dressing gown pocket for her to sniff out, which usually results in her trying to access them from the inside of my dressing gown.:011:

I don't think I've ever had a pet that wasn't quirky!

When I was a kid, I had a french lop-eared rabbit that sat up on his hind legs and begged.

Later, I had a german shepherd/border collie cross that walked like a dressage horse and if I went horse riding, he would get jealous and follow behind copying everything the horse did, including jumps!

I had a New Foundland dog who, when she was excited about something, would jump up and grab me round the waist with her paws/legs and bounce up and down on her hind legs.

I still have an Irish Wolfhound/Lab cross (he's been with me for years and is ancient for a dog his size) who, not so much now but when he was younger, would lay on his back holding a toy between his front paws and throw it up in the air and catch it! He has always used his paws more than any dog I have ever known, he used to catch pheasants but would only hold them in his paws/legs and never with his teeth so they would eventually escape unharmed.

I also had a royal python who liked to nuzzle/cuddle and would fall asleep with his head pressed into me.

I had a cat who would go into my next door neighbours house in the summer when the back door was open and scare their german shepherd out of her bed and then sleep in it.

I could go on and on with this list with more dogs and another cat, mice with quirks, a rat ................................

I want to sit in the front of the car!

That's my old Newfie. The blanket over the car seats was to keep the drool off them!

What an adorable Nefie!
My Clara Bow my Saint Bernard has always liked to drag the bobble out of my hair with her teeth she used to do it playing when she was a baby these days she will fall asleep with her head in my lap and then casually wake up stretch and pull it out and look at me enough to say "ha I did that coz I can"!. Another one of her 'cute' tricks is to leave one of her lamb chops under my pillow as a 'gift' I have this thing about clean bed linen it's one of those things in life to me that is just so joyous and each time she does it I want to be soooo mad at her but then I look at her sad eyes and the look on her face that says "it's a gift it's for you!" and I just can't be mad at her.

Love

one of our cats sit and begs food of my husband, it will do it only with him and not me. our springer likes to sit and walk around the 10foot trampoline, in fact I have noticed our other cat a tabby is doing that now aswell.

This one isn't my pet but you'd think it was ours the amount of time it spent wrecking my garden. There was a field in front of the house with a low dry stone wall to our garden. Two horses used to jump over into our tiny front garden. On this occasion it wandered into our neighbours garden so I shut the gate to keep it out of mine.

We had a sheepdog called Meg who tried to herd the cats round the farmyard - as you can imagine, the cats were totally dismissive and supercillious about all her antics.

Then a spaniel who love to play ball - and actually tapped the ball back to us - balls were the joy of his life.

Then when the children were small they used to bring their pet rabbit into the house and we'd find the rabbit, cat and dog all curled up in front of the fire together!

All our pets have brought us much love and joy.

Forgot to mention.....our two chucks frequently "chat" to me , granted I have to translate to my own language what they might be saying. According to if they are trying to come into the house,, or...I am trying to get them out of the house, much to their dismay it seems:rolleyes:.

They "tell" OH a right tale when he comes in from work and lets them out of their pen for a free range peck like "Where the 'eck have you been all day, don't you know we're bored", or those "flippin pheasants have been again eating all our grub..talk about unwanted guests" :p

Treacle he looks so sorry for himself shut behind the gate!! Can't blame you for that though. I remember years ago when some sheep managed to get into my vegtable garden. Needless to say they loved my veggies! I, heavily pregnant, ran at them like a wild thing and they jumped back over the hedge. Must have looked very funny!!

LOL Maeshadow, 😀 wonder if you've got a furball from your cat's antics ...:011:

Fleur, i'm so green with envy you have chooks, as i'd love to own a fair few and would talk to them in the same way as i do with my daughter's hamster- in a very daft baby like voice LOL 😮

My two used to love chasing the mop around the kitchen. As you can see, they also like boxes!!:p It was like musical chairs - who was going to get in the biggest box first!

Our little Jack the lad was waiting at the bedroom door this morning for us to get up, and quite excitable, so thought he was just crossing his legs and let him out quick...

In he came seconds after, I knew a deed hadn't been done, he then continued to jump up at OH, bounced up on his knee, giving doggy licks etc.

We checked the house, nope, he hadn't had an accident anywhere..so we were quite bemused by his early morning excitement .

He settle eventually.... after an hour OH found that his mobile phone had lost it's charge, and was beeping. We think that's what Jack was trying to tell us...he doesn't like it bleeping or disturbing his nights kip:rolleyes:

I have a German Shephard who will gladly turn her nose up at a bowl of meat in favour of a handful of pumpkin seeds! Plus each time someone runs the tap in the kitchen she will sit starring right at the water waiting for it to splash her way. She is also in the habbit of screaching past you as you walk out of the house, doing a full run of the perimiter of the garden barking then coming back to your side, she does it when i go into the garden too, she runs round checks it is ok and then greets me!

Lately when we are out walking she has started doing this.... if i stop to chat to a fellow dog walker and we are stood about for longer than she deems necessary she walks around and nips me on the bum and then hops as if she has springs in her feet. Her way of telling me to get a move on. It doesnt hurt at all, she is 8 months so still a youngster but her behaviour is brilliant, a natural protector and i wouldnt swap her for anything.

I have a cat that will climb into any open drawer and not even make a sound when you close it accidently.

Not my pet, but a funny story I thought you'd like:

We were at one of our events and camping in the site field along with many other people, most of whom were on-site at the time. My wife approached our tent only to find our friends' husky rooting around in there. He guiltily shot out of the tent and ran straight up the middle of the field in front of everyone... with a pair of my wife's pants hanging out of his mouth , closely followed by her chasing him, yeliing, 'Give me my pants back you baaaaaaa******d!' The whole campsite were in hysterics - very funny!

My daughter's hamster now has another pecularity, swiping crystals! Twice now she's been caught in the act, I have a piece of citrine in the corner of my room, but as its too big to stuff in her cheek pouches, she drags it away!

She's been known to nick polished pebbles too, velly strange indeed!

We had a muslim clock. It would call the prayer times. The sound was magical. BUT it meant 5 times a day our Yorkie would leap in the air howling lustily. Joined by our less than tuneful Cairn/Cestie cross. If I was on the phone it would sound like we were killing them! It was always difficult to explain what was going on, in a way that didn't make it sound as if we were all crazy.

My Purdie (sadly no longer with us) was caught nicking my lemon squash, obviously I didn't give her anymore lol but she wouldn't drink out of anything else other than this glass, when we went to my parents (she came with us) and had to have the same glass lol x

Once I know how to attach a pic I will
