Hi guys

I have just been wondering, if you have a pet, what his/her name is. I am always fascinated by the wide variety of names that people chose. I have come across some pets with... huim,an names, such as Harry, Bill, jack and so on. I have also come across pet's with the most weird names such as twinle, sparky, bonbon, fluffy and so on. Mind you I suppose I have not done much better. But I am just curious. BTW my cat is called Pebbles. And he is GREAT!

RE: Pet's name

Hi everyone,

We have 2 cats 18yr old female called Angel and 4yr old male called Gabriel. When first daughter was 2 she had 'invisible' cat that used to sit on our sofa and if her Dad or I would go to sit down she would panic and say "mind the pussy!!". We thought she might be lonely so put the word out that if anyone was looking to home any kittens we would have one. We asked our daughter if she had a cat what would she call it and immediately she said"Angel".
A few weeks later my brother rang to say he had got Angel. A friend of his had a cat that had a litter out of season and she was the last one to be homed. He brought her over the same evening.(this was at least 10yrs before I started my spiritual path and working with the Angels!!)
Gabriel joined the family 4 years ago in another unusual way. A friend of mine had been diagnosed with breast cancer and I would go over to her every week to give her Reiki alongside her conventional tratment. One of her cats were pregnant and this cat would sit on the arm of the chair and watch the energy flowing. On my 3rd visit she jumped up on my lap while my friend was sorting herself out for our session and I asked her if she wanted Reiki for hr kittens. At this she miaowed which I took for yes and put my hands on either side of her bulging stomach and 'sent'. It was amazing because I could feel the kittens wriggling!! When she had them a few months later she had 5 and one was a ball of jet black fur and I just 'knew' he was mine. He came home with me 8 weeks later and Gabriel felt 'right' for him. Of course, when I am in the garden calling"Angel, Gabriel" the neighbours think I have finally lost the plot!!!
Love and light

RE: Pet's name

We have 3 cats... & some of you will remember from HP last year when I put a huge HELP request up - when we had a straycat arrive with her 4 kittens !!
Anyway - we originally had Pebbles - same name as Alex's cat
. . my daughter chose the name as when a kitten , Peb's fur was black with tiny speckles of varying colour - my daughter thought they looked like Pebbles on the beach hence - Pebbles ! 😀
Then the stray arrived - oddly exactly the same looking as Pebs - ( tortoise shell )
she was a wonderful Mother to her 4 kittens - a survivor against the odds
so we named her M.C. - short for Mother cat, Mum cat 🙂
then we kept one of her 4 kittens ( another tortoise shell )
and my daughter named her Amber - as she has the most beautiful colouring
just like an amber gem/stone.

ah & we all love our ickle Pebbles, M.C. & Amber
they have such varying characters too.
Actually M.C is often called Phobie - as she now hates going outside
its as though she thinkss - hey i'm not going back out there
I had a hell of a life - no way i am going back out there
i'm a house cat now !!!! shes soo funny

sorry I've rambled a bit. 🙂

RE: Pet's name

Hi everyone,

This is the first time I've looked at this section. Moonlight, your cat is beautiful.

Kapri, I have 2 Devon Rexes, so they will be quite similar to your Cornish Rexes. Molly is typical Devox Rex, with beautiful wavy light brown fur, chocolate points and bright blue eyes. Cosmo is very unusual, he is grey and white, with some tiny dots of black on some of the white bits (like small dalmation spots!). When we first got him, all his fur had fallen out except for his toes, tail, ears and nose and everyone thought he looked like he was from space as he was so freaky looking with his huge ears, wrinkly skin and big yellow eyes. But he has some fur now, although it is still not really long enough to be properly wavy. They are both individual characters and I love them like they were little babies to me.

Cosmo's pedigree name is Cloudborn WantaWintaWooly (because he was bald) and Molly's is Cloudborn SugarPlumKitty. We called him Cosmo after our favourite TV character Cosmo Kramer from Seinfeld and Molly because she just looked like a Molly.

I wish I could attach photos but I don't know how - if someone can tell me I will see what I can do.

Hi everyone,
Nice photos, even if they took ages to load (bet you've all got broadband instead of the slow old modems we folks out in the sticks have to put up with! [:@])

We have 4 dogs, all English Setters:
Piper,
Oscar,
Dolly &
Tizzie

We also have 3 cats,
Barney, a part Burmese
and 2 very special Maine Coons, called Pagan and Tarot

I have a cat called.......wait for it.............. moo moo!

When I got him from the cats home, they had called him Sylvester - which I didn't like. I wanted to call him Mr Mistofolees (from the musical Cats or the book). My daughter didn't like that and just called him Puddy moo moo which is now shortened to moo moo.

Hilarious when I am calling him indoors!

Hi all
I have a dog called Ollie. We got her from a rescue center, and as she had been taken in by them around Christmas time, she was named Holly. I have 2 children, and knowing how they always tend to drop their 'H's, we changed it to Ollie.

RE: Pet's name

Hi everyone,
Just looked at this section for the first time (finally found some time to browse!). You all have such beautiful pets and I loved reading your stories.

I have a black cat called Mogwai. When he was a kitten he looked like a Mugwai from Gremlins (you know, the little furry creatures before they turn horrible!). My son adapted the name but of course - we all call him Moggie (not very original eh?) 😀
He's 11 now and his character has really changed over the past year. He's become totally loving and follows us round the house begging for attention (he used to bite and scratch if we went anywhere near him). He also used to smell from both ends - horrible! That's all ok now though and he's absolutely beautiful with a thick, healthy, glossy coat and the odd white hair appearing)

My recently departed cat was a beautiful tortoishell called April - she was a right proper little madam but so beautiful with it, and very very talkative. She too became very demanding in her later years and she lived to 18 years - then she had a couple of fits and I couldn't bear to see her suffer - she was too beautiful a character for that and used to be so strong and confident - that's how I try to remember her. I have a smashing photo of her so i'll try to get it scanned and send it to you soon.

I also had an Old English Sheepdog called Bagley (show name was Beauvallon Piccolo Boy). His Great Grandfather was the original dulux dog! It broke my heart all over again when he passed away. Kidney problems. He used to pull a sleigh with Xmas pressies in to the local nursery school every December - the kids loved him. I'll also attach a photo of him if get time.

4 guinea pigs called Blanche, Badger, Maude and Rosie. What individual characters they all had. I love the way they squeak and squeal when we opened the back door to walk into the garden - almost shouting "we're here, come and see us"

Rabbit called Cuthbert - don't ask me why - it just suited him so much. Huge and white. He used to play Tag with April around the house. Think he thought she was a rabbit and she thought he was a cat!

Budgie called Joey

Loads of fish - names forgotten (I must be getting old!)

One day - when I give up full time work - i'll get another dog from the local rescue home. But not while I still have Moggie - it would really upset him and he's too lovely for that.

Well, haven't I rambled. Good to talk and I look forward to reading more of your stories soon.

Luv

RE: Pet's name

Hi all what a lovely thread....

Our First dog, I mean Lee and I as a couple, Was called Renworth Rob Of cardon!!! We called him Robbie, much easier

Our Next to dogs, who we have now are Chaz and Mitch. Thay, like Robbie are Cocker Spaniels.

Our Chaz, we don't have the peddigree for so we don't know his fancy Dan name that they are given. But Mitches was Widgen, I'm not being funny but I wasn't prepared to stand on the becach/playing fields shouting Widgen, So we called him Mitch, because I like that name, and it suits him.

When I was a kid I had a gold fish. My mum/dad and my Christian names all begin with S, so, I had to christen the Gold fish with an S name, to keep it in the family, so I called him Swimmy, swimmy the fish.

Much Love
Sharon

Hi all, love the topic!
I have 2 rescue cats who are brothers, originally named Sooty & Smudge. I didn't think their names were particularly original, nor suited to them, so they're now called Bert & Ernie (my fave Sesame Street characters!)
They have completely different personalities-Bert is a complete nutter, whereas Ernie is very laid-back & probably listens to jazz when I'm out:D

Gone but not forgotten (all cats):
Orlando, Brian & Ollie

I have already posted my long list of pet names but i am getting another rabbit on saturday so i thought i had better add him on here too 😉

He is a grey dwarf lionhead mix and roughly 2 years old, his owners were not giving him the love and care he needs. He was kept in a run on the concrete in the cold/damp and his home and food bowl was covered with slugs [:'(] i cant wait to bring him home!! Roll on Saturday!!!

I have named him Leo because a) im a big charmed fan and b) because he is a Lion(head)

Hi ... 🙂

Great how daft we get over our little furry friends ...

I have two rescue cats called Jackson (Jacks) and Mietze.

And my Mum's cat is called Betty Boo ... because she has such big eyes ... we rescued her whilst on holiday in Spain from two kids playing tug-o-war with her ... she was between 4 and 6 weeks old and so pathetic ... spent the first 48hr watching her and hoping so would pull thru ... 7 months later, she's such a madam and rules my Mum and the house !!

Who'd be without them ... 😀
