We have a huge tree at the back of our garden (well it is in the neighbours) this tree attracts dozens of noisy Magpies (we love the sound of birds generally) but these so and sos make a heck of a racket 😮 and certainly not pleasant on the ear.
We are not getting any other birds at all, regardless of putting feed out etc., what can we do? is there in fact anything that can be done? Or are these Magpies set to rule the roost forever?
Any advice please...

That the noise is not pleasant is certainly a value judgement and the magpies are doing what magpies do, just as all wildlife does.
Despite my lack of sympathy, I pass on a couple of suggestions that I have come across (never tried, of course).
First, hang aluminium pie plates from the branches - apparently the magpies do not like the noise they make.
Second, place a model of a bird of prey in the tree - I've read that even a toy owl works, although I guess it would have to be the right colours/size.
They will move on, I've noticed that Magpies choose a place they like but not for very long. You could try not putting any food out at all, it may just be a nice big tree with a convenient nearby food source for them 🙂
Thanks for suggestions, thing is I can't hang anything in the tree as it is not in our garden, also the area we are in is generally surrounded by similar huge trees (love trees, love birds) and every tree is alive with Magpies, I call them CLACKER birds, can anyone remember the Clacker craze from early seventies? :034:
All God's creatures....even if they do make a noise!
