Hi all
Just had to come and share this with you, maybe to try and get rid of some of the anger, I am so mad just now I’m bright red [:@]
Not sure if there any many Scottish members around but just heard on the Scottish news about a 22 year old man who beat a dog to death with a metal bar in rage after a night out drinking!!
His punishment for killing this dog… 100 hours community service!
That’s it. And apparently his explanation for doing it was ‘ felt like it’ and then was shown just standing there trying to look cool and acting really smug. [:@]
What on earth is going on with the world? 100 hours community service?? – Its nothing. And from what I’m told community service in most cases isn’t even particularly demanding!
Never had it myself, however I do know someone who also got 100 hours for having a few ‘words’ with a police man! Think the words were ‘something off’
Not that I agree with anyone swearing at the law but how can the same so called ‘punishment’ be given for someone doing that and someone actually murdering a poor dog?[:@]:([:@] How could someone even do it?

Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr What a load of tosh (trying very carefully not to swear!). Totally agree Fiona, its disgusting. These people should be made aware fully of the consequences of their actions. Whats to stop him taking a crowbar to a human next time just because 'he felt like it'. As I said on the wallaby thread, there is a very strong link between animal abuse and human abuse.
Poor little dog, it must of been so scared. The mans actions will catch up with him sooner of later though, I do believe that.
RE: Killing for fun
I'm Scottish too Fiona, currently living in East Lothian. Didn't hear news (try to avoid it cos of stuff like that!) Makes me wonder what that young man will be killing in a few years!! The law these days is basically an ass in my opinion. He WILL get his one day though - universal law.
I'm more concerned about the poor dog, as Doogle says, he must have been terrified and in agony. As a dog owner and lover, my sympathies too are with him. At least nothing can hurt him now, he's at peace and being loved and cared for.
Can we send Reiki to the dog or is that a bit pointless since he's already with the source??
RE: Killing for fun
This makes me so sad [sm=mecry.gif] and sooooo VERY angry!! [sm=banghead.gif]
I wish we could do more to stop things like this from happening, it makes me feel useless! It seems to be getting much worse too the abusers are getting younger and the crimes they are committing more evil.
My heart is full of love for all my pets at home but i break a piece off for the ones i cannot reach out to and for those that are too late to help.
Rest in peace beautiful canine

RE: Killing for fun
Hi Guys
Doogle, your right, if he kills a poor animal at 22 years old because he 'felt like it' what on earth will he do the next time that he's drunk?! What makes me even more angry is that no matter how much alcohol he had he obviously did know what he was doing wrong and wasn't even sorry for it?![:@]
Muriel this was on the grampian headlines around 11am on monday. Think your right about not watching to be honest, It only ever seems to get worse![&o]
XF, I know how you feel. I really feel awful when thing like this happen, completely useless, I dont know what we could do to stop it happening.

RE: Killing for fun
Shocking but sadly becoming more and more common, and I too have heard that there is a strong link between animal abuse and human abuse.
It is when we hear stories like these that we feel we don't know what to do, and feel hopeless.
Teach the children about animals, how important they are, how to treat them gently and with respect - for the children of today will be the adults of tomorrow.
There is quite a large group of growing children from my neighbourhood, and they will often come to my front gate and chat. I will talk to them about the flowers, how beautiful they are, and one child asked me one day if she could pick a flower, I used this opportunity to show her that we have to respect the flower, that it is very beautiful to look at, that they needed caring for, and to be gentle with nature and they really did respond. I then showed them a melissa that I've got and rubbed the leaf and let them smell the lemon scent. They asked whether they could have a leaf, so I gave them one each.
I also have a very tiny plastic gnome that I have on a tree stump, the children had spotted it and I let them all hold it, one of the children then joked that it might not be there soon, I very calmly told the children that the gnome liked his home, he was looking after all the plants and flowers, and the ants nest that lives in the tree stump, and to this day the little gnome is still there.
I also have three cats, and they'll often come by and ask where the cats are, I will let them stroke the cats, asking them to be gentle, and teaching them bits and bobs about them. They are so gentle with my cats, my cats will even go out to see them, and roll about for attention.
I think the message is, we can all do something, make a point of teaching children about animals, showing them how to be gentle with living beings. There is always something we can do. If you see a child being rough with an animal, point that out to them, and show them how to be gentle, and how the animal responds to gentleness.
Love and light
