I'm not asking this for any bad reason – I love hedgehogs as much as any animal, but I have a real problem and need to find a way to stop them getting in!
The problem being, my lurchers have killed 3-4 in the last 8 months 🙁
We moved about this time last year and despite me running out and breaking it up when I hear the barking, they still manage to injure or kill them. I don't know how they manage it but there are dig marks all over the lawn and they come in with blood on their chops! Despite the hogs curling up, my dogs have found a way to get at them, poor things!
I was going to put some low chicken wire around the perimeter but I read online that hogs are great climbers and have been known to not only scale 6ft fences, but also climb up drainpipes and sleep in loft spaces!
We have a decent sized garden so it would take a lot of work to put the fencing down, and I don't want to do it if it's going to be pointless! Are there any alternatives you can think of? I try and go out with the dogs at bedtime but it's not always possible, and a pain tbh.
Oh, I see! 🙁
Pepper on the borders? Ultrasound wave machines? (Aimed away from your dogs.)
Pepper???
Pepper works for many things... it makes many animals sneeze and acts as a deterrent because of that.
Yep! You'll be back before long complaining about being woken in the middle of the night by hedgehog sneezes. 😀
Well I guess it's a humane deterrent!
now we know why 😀
